Thank you for testing!

I will keep four threads, one for each tactic, and put all the variations in those threads. After new patches, I might drop some option that seems clearly weaker.

COuld You link here links to those tactics? Thx in advance.

There is no 3.0 in FM23.

About training, it's for professional teams, because semi-professionals don't train the entire week. Some people manage to bypass that, but since it's a bug, I'm not going to consider it.

I mean not 3.0 but 0.3 , why in tests there is 0.1 version not 0.3?

Kaczy said: why in tests there is 0.1 version not 0.3?

it's 1.0, which was tested, and not 0.1

Fck sry guys i am still sleeping i think :D

And 1.0 version is different then 0.3 ?

Kaczy said: And 1.0 version is different then 0.3 ?

I don't think there's any difference between them

Version 0.X is a common naming standard before the release of something. Then, it's normal to pick the best version and rename it to 1.0.

@ZaZ you promised to release an update to your tactics very soon, how are you? Can't wait anymore)

I didn't promise anything, but I will be releasing something before the weekend.

I released Earth and Wind 2.0 recently. They weren't that great but gave me some good data to work with.

Zaz, have you tested instructions such as stop crosses and trap outside?

Yes, and there was no statistical difference between. Actually, invite crosses was slightly better in some shapes, so I left to test again later.

This is interesting, I think people have not yet found the perfect instructions for reliable defense, which is why such low results of tactics. It can be combinations like high pressing, higher d-line, what kind of trap and something related to crosses. What do you think?

Or maybe there isn't any impact on results, with any instructions

I left the most promising things to test again after the patch. It might change a lot, so no need to rush before that. I have just a list of what is good, what is bad and what needs more testing.

Why are you waiting for the engine patch so much? I saw somewhere that SI said they will update the engine only in the Christmas patch)

Well, when next patch comes, I will have to re-run all tests, so I'm not in a hurry, just taking it slow. It's not like I'm not testing, it's just that I am trying different paths from those top tactics, and I didn't get much luck yet.

@ZaZ have something to share? Maybe noticed that it works better now?

Working on Fire 2.0 and Water 2.0.

@ZaZ How many games do you recommend to play in preseason?

MartinhoFM said: @ZaZ How many games do you recommend to play in preseason?

One per week if your squad is small, two per week if it's large, and something between if you have a medium sized squad. I often alternate teams during pre-season.

Hey Zaz! Do you know if having two CB with the same preferred foot are any disadvantage against having one left foot and one right foot? (Given that they have at least okay weak foot).

There isn't any significative difference.

@ZaZ

Do you tailor your tactic to your player's strengths (without drastically changing the tactic) or stick to the tactic and find players who are a more natural fit?  I've been doing the latter, but find it increasingly difficult as I recruit better and better players.

The follow-up question is whether learning more about tactics is worth the time investment.  I understand most game mechanics pretty well at this point, but I've held off on messing with tactics because I know very little about soccer (see, I called it soccer). They seem like the most complicated part of this game by far.

Cheers!

I would rather keep the tactic and shape the team around it. If you cannot find good players to certain position, then you can always retrain from other positions.

About learning about tactics, there is a bit of real life football that actually fits the game, but lots of things in the game do not match reality. You can commit time to that, but next year it can all become void once new engine is out.

Going to start my journey on FM, sharing step by step what I am doing, with the reasoning behind every decision. I couldn't do earlier because my wife had a surgery and needed help recovering, so I couldn't make the commitment to play regularly to share.
Anyway, I accept suggestions on the initial setup of this journey.

- Transfers: Only control scouts through scout meetings, and only hire between players they recommend. Yes or no?

- Club: start from lower division of England and climb to win Champions League, or start with weakest side from a top division and try to win during first season?

- Tactic: Play with a generic tactic, or a specific style or formation?

So, any suggestions?
