Water with shorter passing (and Roll It Out to promote shorter passing on GK), and reliable set pieces.

Think lower defensive line may perform better? Have you test that? or maybe just my delusion?

I'm running some experiments in that direction, but it takes some times before I have some results to post here.

What kind of training regime do you use for fm 23 with these tactics?

This is the schedule I use for both pre-season and inside the season.

Hey ZaZ & Co. :)
After a longer break, i could play the FM23 again, switched from Water 4.2 to Water 6.0 with my Hertha Save (1st season).
The first half of the season was sensational, 2nd place behind Bayern Munich.

So after the winterbreak my team kinda went out of form for a few matches, lost 2 in a row, 3-4 drows but still an awesome season.
In the end, i reached place 3 in my 1st season with Hertha BSC, low financial budget (which will be better next season because Champions League etc.).

My new mexican striker Jose Juan Macias came at January from Deportivo Guadalajara for 3.9 Million €, scores 15 goals and 3 assists in 16 matches.
And is now about 26-29 Million € worth.

Also my striker Kangahad a superb season (20 goals in 30 matches, 7 Assists!). 3rd best Striker in the Bundesliga in his 1st season.

I also got Amiri from Leverkusen for 2.7 Million € because i needed a flexible winger, especially on the left side but yeah..maybe i gonna sell him because he is mostly a backup.
He is now 7-8 Million € worth but maybe i will still wait for the first half of the 2nd season and hope he will have more impact (which i doubt).

I signed two talented striker for the next season. To make pressure on Kanga and also get the option to maybe sell Macias for 30+ Million € and have a win of 25+ Million €. We will see.
The new coming strikers are the 20y old german striker, Maximilian Beyer (9 Mio.€, very fast, overall good stats) and Adam Hlozek from Leverkusen (5 Mio.€, 20y, very fast, overall good stats, similiar to Beyer).

Also Fabricio Diaz, 20y, young defensive midfielder from FC Liverpool (Uruguay) who can also score and is overall good for his age. Maybe not the greatest talent but for only 2.6 Million € a very good deal. Also i will probably sell 1-2 defensive midfielders from my team. We will see.

I could also transfer a handfull of talented young players for the next season, without spending money (Hertha is kinda poor in the 1st season, like in reality).

Here 2 Screenshots from my superb 1st season with Hertha BSC.
Water 4.2 for the first 25+ league matches, Water 6.0 after.
We shot themost goals in the league (77), had the player with the highest average note (Macias - 7.53), had the most goalchances in the league (174) and also most fouls...660.

I wanna thank you (again) ZaZ.
Maybe you are not on the absolute TOP tactic maker but i really stay loyal and appreciate your work and passion for the game and share your tactics with us.

Wish you and the community a great weekend,
Ses snart :D

Gratz and thanks, Nebu!

Unfortunately, I cannot compete with people brute testing (trying all possible variations), because they are just bound to find good things if they test too much. I lost count of the number of times I spent one week testing something novel, just to see it being tested before I could post it. In the end, the important thing is for people to have good tactics, and not exactly for the best tactic to be mine. I just wish I could have contributed more to the community this year, but my time has been pretty limited recently.

I guess I will try to wrap up the information I collected in my tests with what we got from the testing table and try to make a new version for the tactics.

I love your work mate, it is definitely extremely valuable to the FM Arena community. Please keep it up. I know I am not alone in my appreciation for your work

Thanks, Mark! I don't want to be mean since the new brute force methodology allowed us to get some good tactics. However, it discouraged people from uploading new tactics to be tested. The number of users uploading tactics this year seems smaller than previous years, and it should be higher since we now have more FM players overall. Before, we would have people doing tweaks that could lead to new exciting directions, but this year most tweaks were done by brute testing instead. It was something like the Knap method (nothing against the guy, don't know him), but with FM-Arena to validate results.

Some people even told me to do the same strategy of mass testing small variations, but then it would stop being fun and become just a robotic process. Anyway, I have decided to focus on testing other aspects of the game when I have time. I will still try some new versions of tactics, but my focus will go for optimizing other things like contracts, attributes, rotation and so on.

Been using your training schedule for pretty much whole FM23 cycle. It's so easy to use no matter what the match schedule is and results are good both in terms of progression and match results, helps when players are well rested for matches. The most "1 click per week and forget about it" schedule I've seen

Thanks for testing! I suppose you noticed that FM resets your training schedule at the end of every season, so you need to reassign everything again.

I just do it every sunday when I get training for next 2 weeks in the inbox, can fix everything there in a few seconds.

Only thing that really annoys me (and this has nothing to do with the schedule) is that if the match is played on sunday the game will override whatever training is planned for monday with recovery, so I have to manually fix that.

Use only this schedule? with one and two matches in the week?

I still dream about the day when FM won't screw up training schedules.

Yeah, same schedule for one or two matches. It doesn't matter much because players that participated in the matches are set to rest automatically, so training doesn't require rest or recovery.

So i should use put it for the entire season? and setuping like that ?

I've tested Cadoni's and Cae's but i want to test even yours, if that is your definitive i will give it a go to my 3rd year Spurs game :woot:

Yes, that's the trick so you don't need to add rest or recovery during training sessions. Let me know how it did for you, and how you feel it compares.

I've been experimenting with taking your base training and rest settings and changing attacking sessions into chance creation and conversion, and defensive into aerial and ground defence. Main idea was basically to have every session (other than physical) work on individual roles, just to see if it actually does anything.

Only done like 1 season with the new schedule, results seem quite decent. Hard to evaluate without more rigorous testing, but lets say I'll be sticking to it for now. It's equally possible something just clicked, or I have players that progress better and the original training would have worked just as well if not better.

Thanks for testing!

I'm more placing this idea out there than actually testing :)

As far as specifically individual role attributes go I don't notice much change, however the progress graphs look good and I get more inbox messages of good training progress than I used to. For whatever that counts. Like I said could be only dumb luck.

only quick test under new patch, seems to works fine, could even finished 2nd but we didnt win 4 out from last 5 games

Giving this a try! I used your training schedule for all of FM22 and it was amazing on that game. Do you still use individual training for all players on this one? Thanks!

Edit: I mean with additional focus on quickness, for example.

Yes, individual for quickness.
