Greetings everyone!

I am 34 yrs old content creator from Turkey. I analyze Super League games on my YouTube channel called "Hastalık Bu Futbol" which has nearly 900.000 subscriber. I love the analytic side of this sport, anyway FM has always been part of my life.

4-1-2-3 tactics with DW are awesome this year, I believe credit must go to Delicious, chef and Steelwood. To be honest I do not really like formations that look unrealistic or have no place in real football. That's why I examined it and try to figure out why and how they succeed, and then somehow I tweak them to my liking and to make it more realistic

Screenshots below speak for themselves (on holiday results) but I love to describe the idea for those nerds like me.

Fascinating part of this top tactic is alone DM is always supported by IWs when you posses the ball thats why your midfield is not as empty as it seems. On the other hand when opponent has the possession IWs become almost centre backs  playing on wide thanks to those DWs. Yeah that was the key of my perspective.

I thought WCB with attack could do nearly same positioning pattern. I replaced both IW to WCB. In this way one of DCs became available to occupy higher up the picth, I tested some and picked CM with attack but I am sure you guys will try other variation and totally find the most efficient one.

Anyway even if my tweak won't do anything, I believe at least there is a very solid 3 atb formation on the site now.

Cheers,
Timur

Hello,

thanks for the credits, but if I'm not mistaken @Blau originally came up with this tactic, except 3 strikers (https://fm-arena.com/thread/4407-wide-diamond-41212-v1/). I just tweaked it around and in the end got the same score after 5k matches test as previous version with three AFs.

After testing tactics for so long I already know some things that are not gonna work. And for the life of me, I can't think the better tactic than the current top one. That's why I've been trying some asymmetrical ones lately, but they still can't compete.

I feel the most important thing is to be very good defensively but also have decent amount of options on attack. If you want to be more nerdy about it, you can read my analysis here: https://fm-arena.com/thread/4793-match-engine-personal-observations/

I just feel that some of the crucial aspects of good tactic in latest patch are these:
- 4 defenders is almost a must - I could never have a good defense with three defenders - WCB just don't cover wings as well as WBs/IWBs
- 2 DMs are very good at defense, but 1DM with 2 DWs compensate enough for the lack of one DM, and provide much better offense
- 3 strikers is almost a must

Unless someone comes up with a very original formation, I don't see the current formation be beaten. I'm talking strictly about formation, not better instructions on the same one.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from trying some other formations by any means, I'm just stating what I've seen from testing so much + observing the match engine.

I'm actually happy that it's becoming very challenging to make a breakthrough - have fun! :)
