Optimal play according to data from Fm-Arena

Hey so I saw @AlexH  sharing his excel file and I just wanted to share what I have, hopefully it helps someone selecting players for their tactic. All the info I gathered from this site is in there, big thanks to @Mark and @ZaZ probably some others I can't remember.

Thanks for this. It has given me some great ideas for improving my work. I really like the tool to converts the screenshots. Should save me a lot of time. Well done

By the way, you can use different browsers, each one gives you 2 extra scans per day, the site does not track IP, but the browser you use.

Hello guys and well done for your work! @Mark & @Snaipz

Why you don't use FMRTE? I think its more advanced scouting tool and also with much more flexibility on ratings etc. I was using Genie Scout too before some years but the developer of the app don’t update it anymore with new features, only fixing some bugs and make it work for each edition/patch.

Thank you again for your time and your effort you put. Keep going

Well I use FMRTE for editing/changing things about the club I'm managing if needed, but I never thought about it as a scouting tool. Genie Scout is so easy, cause if you have world scouting package  in FM, it shows you all interested players who want to transfer/loan to your club, then you can easily import all of them to Genie Scout and sort them by how good/expensive they are in each position. Also attribute weighting is a big deal, and I'm not sure if FMRTE has that.

To be honest, both programs have their good and bad points.

I was stuck with Genie Scout for many years and thought one year I would use FMRTE to see if it would help me better. What I find in GS as its best feature compared to FMRTE is its simplicity. Just this.

You can also import shortlist if I’m not wrong on FMRTE and sort them however you like. Now in terms of attributes weighting I think FMRTE excels for the reason that you can even set weightings for the strong/weak foot (which impacts CA/PA) but in GS is predefined under the hood for each position individually. Also another big help on FMRTE is that you can copy/paste anything within the program to anywhere you want and you dont need to take a screenshot then extract text from image etc.

Btw I’m not working or get any commission on FMRTE project :D I’m trying to help!

Oh interesting, didn't know you could do that. I guess I just have not explored scouting capabilities of FMRTE I will check it out. Thanks 🙂

When I previously have tried exporting from FMRTE I could only do 1 player at a time. Has this changed?

Just selected them all (click on a player and then Ctrl + A) and then copy(Ctrl + C) and paste them to an excel file. Let me know if it works or not!

A couple of reasons:

First, I play on an iPad.  So it’s easier for me to just use an XLS (which I really only use 3-4 times a season.

Second, I have custom metrics that help me evaluate a player.  So if I decide to switch to PC or Mac, if FMRTE allows me to do custom analytics - that might be an attractive option.

Third, when I play with the numbers myself - I learn more about the game maybe?

If you find it with excel files then there is no problem.
What metrics are we talking about? Let me see if you can configure them within the tool.

Brother, you don't have to use a tool. I'm just saying in case you want to use one, I think FMRTE has more options. You're free to do whatever you want in life in general! :D

What metrics are we talking about?

I want to measure a couple of things depending on the state of the club I'm managing.

What I do is try to come up with an aggregate rating - that may be just entering key attributes against ykykyk or somesuch.  That's useful.  But then I do two things -

1) Compare my player aggregate rating to a player with "all 12s" - in an attempt to recreate something like "Wins Above Replacement" as used in baseball.  Basically - is my player better than the average flotsam I can pick up easily - and how much better?  This helps in roster construction and transfer window opportunities, and esp if I'm playing a small or poor club (or the MLS).

2)  Every time the game posts "Top 50 Best in World" to my inbox - I go and find the highest rated player in that top 50 and put them in the same ratings as I use for my players.  Then I create a comparison metric that answers the question "how far away is my player from the best on the market?"

This is useful for clubs that are rich and / or when I want to dethrone PSG.

3) I'm playing with the idea of comparing my player's ability vs. how much I'm spending.  I haven't come up with a good approach other than to divide the aggregate rating by salary here, which can be helpful, but I feel like there might be a better approach.

Finally, I'm playing with the idea of using/stressing the attribute testing on this forum:

https://fm-arena.com/table/13-attribute-testing/#options

Which I *love* because it shows me based on results vs. the weights.  I feel like measuring based on how the simulators algorithms respond is more meaningful than just how it constructs the inputs into the simulator.

Brother, we're talking about two different things. What you're doing and what I'm trying to point out have nothing to do with each other.

I do my own calculations too and I have over 15 excel files to measure different things within the game with formulas etc. What I told to the guys is a comparison of the two programs ( GS & FMRTE ) in terms of the ratings they create within the tool. So keep doing what you are doing and if you can help the community more here post your stuff so we can help each other. Thats all

"over 15 excel files to measure different things within the game with formulas etc."

That's just badass.

Why?

Because I just have my little XLS - the depth of analysis you're putting in seems pretty cool.  I started playing this game to learn more about soccer (yank here).  Now I'm enjoying the ability to analyze the "game within the game" - and with 15 XLS and so many formulas - I feel like it's great to have a community of analytical minds.

Sorry but I took it in the bad sense of the word.

Sure it's good to break things down because the game itself is a large amount of data with UI. That's how I see it. It's just that everyone is analyzing the part they are interested in etc. I don't get too much into player attributes because it takes a lot of research and I think here if someone has a very good knowledge of AI and machine learning then we can get to an important point.

Yes it does. I hadnt realised how long it takes the program to put the data into the clipboard, so was was trying to paste before it had loaded. This is very helpful

Thanks
