I´ve loved this game for a long time but the meta attributes (technical attributes being non important) kind of bummed me about it. It feels like all the stuff I used to do regarding transfers was just pure imagination and it has really taken a toll on my enjoynment of the game. That being said I´m wondering if this is something happening in older FM games. I understand no real tests have been done but I´d like to know if any of you have a feeling of when did this started. Is there any older FM games where this wasn´t the case?

Speed has been king for at least 25 years now probably more. Maybe the relative weights changed a bit, hard to say without testing.
