FM27 Attribute Test + Tactical Understanding + Training

by harvestgreen22, 4 hours, 49 min ago

I just finished it and sent it out. Due to time constraints, the sample size for these tests is smaller than previous test, which may lead to a higher margin of error; however, the results are generally sound.

1.Attribute

Attribute Importance rank (for non-goalkeeper players)
1.Acceleration、Pace
2.Jumping Reach、Work Rate、Stamina
3.pressure、Anticipation、Strength
4.Finishing、Determination、Concentration、Dribbling

Tactics used for testing :preset gegenpress 4231/442
——Is this conclusion valid only for gegenpress 4231/442?
Based on previous experience, i tested all preset tactics in FM24 and FM26 , revealed that the impact of specific attributes remains largely consistent, regardless of the tactic used.
Some players think that different tactics have different attribute requirements. This has been proven incorrect.
Although not every preset tactic was tested in FM27, because the core game engine remains unchanged; therefore, it can be inferred that the same principle applies.

——What has changed?
Stamina :
Significantly boosted, moving into the ranks of the most important attributes—the impact is effectively doubled.

Dribbling、Agility、Aggression、Composure:
Severely weakened; the impact is less than a quarter of what it used to be.

Balance、Finishing、Long Shots、Concentration:
A moderate weakened—roughly halved or cut to one-third.

Work Rate:
A minor nerf, reducing it to approximately three-quarters of its previous value.

Given the impact of attributes,
the next step is figuring out how to develop these specific attributes in players.

2.Tactical Understanding

FM27 introduces a new system "Tactical Understanding" .
Does it have a significant impact? Does it actually affect anything, or is it just a cosmetic UI element?

By hovering over the icon, you can see that "Tactical Familiarity" increases through matches and training.
——Therefore, if it’s important, we should allocate some training time to it;
——if not, we can simply ignore it.

I set up two groups: Group 1 had zero training dedicated to Tactical Understanding, while Group 2 had eight "Tactical Familiarity" sessions per week.

All other variables were kept constant, and each group played 1,000 matches.2 match per week .
In Group 1, Tactical Understanding remained at 50%.
As shown in the image, the contribution from training was 0%.
In Group 2, Tactical Understanding reached 80%, with training contributing 50% of that level.
Ultimately, the win rates for Group 1 and Group 2 were 39.2% and 42.7%, respectively.
In other words, an increase of roughly 30% in Tactical Understanding resulted in a 3.5% boost to the win rate.

Setting aside the aspect of immersion, I personally don’t think this system warrants much attention.
All that "tactical understanding" training not only disrupts the regular training schedule but also significantly increases the risk of injury.

In the training recommendations that follow, I will essentially disregard the need for this type of tactical understanding training.
The reason is simple: a 3.5% gain is just too marginal. Unlike position familiarity—which has a major impact—tactical understanding isn't worth the effort to develop specifically.

3.Training
As the table (link) shows, its mode of operation remains unchanged (Compare to fm24 and fm26):

it continues to get 'growth' from matches and others Influencing factors (Professionalism , Ambition ,age , Training Facilities),
which is then allocated through 'training', 'intensity ' and "Focus."

For the time being, I recommend the 46th in the excel:
[light conditioning]+[conditioning]+[attacking ball work]+[defensive ball work]

It’s a fairly balanced training schedule—not too many Quantity that it leads to injuries, yet it yields a significant boost to CA (Current Ability) and improves the right specific attributes.

For teams (or players) with very little remaining potential (PA-CA),
or for those in very weak leagues,
players can still utilize the "rest," "recovery," or  "light conditioning (the new)" options to maximize Acceleration and Pace, even when there is very little potential left to tap into.

Training Intensity setting recommend:
Training --Training Intensity --from very poor condition to excellent condition :
no pitch or gym work x3 , double intensity x2

Training Focus setting strongly recommend:
Training -- individual training -- summary --training focus :
Quickness (for non-goalkeeper)

14

In summary:
- Stamina is now the fourth most important attribute (still below Pace, Acceleration, and Jumping Reach)
- Tactical Understanding only 3.5% increase in winrate so not important
- Best training schedule: [Light conditioning] + [Conditioning] + [Attacking Ball Work] + [Defensive ball Work]

Looking forward for the attribute tables with gradual changes, like 1-6, 1-10, 6-10, and so on.

Great work.

Regarding tactical understanding, i think it will be interesting to see if there is a significant difference between low understanding (way below 50%) and medium understanding (around 50%).

I tried many plug and play tactics with good eastern european team, with low understanding on several aspects and the results were quiet bad. From my experience, once the tactical eff is around 50%, the results improve drastically.

I guess based on these tests then there's no reason to allocate training slots to increase tactical effectiveness?

Might as well focus more on increasing important attributes
