General consensus on most important attributes for each position?

by Middleweight165, Jul 14, 2021

actually me too, dont undestand it.if i go and do these changes on rating what does it change in genie?how can i use it?

It is for current ability. It weights the attributes in relation to the position, with the higher weighting being the most important attribute.

Here is an example. Standard ratings on GS of my Central Defenders at St Albans

My ratings of the same Central Defenders

Not much between them in the standard one but wouldnt you definitely buy the top one in my ratings. They are ranked by the column on the left which is the DC current ability

Click on the GS logo top left, then mouse down to Ratings, then Edit Ratings. You can then replace what is there with the ones I have provided. Probably best to save the existing more you edit though so you can go back if you need to. To save, click on the Rating button bottom right. Save as a different file when you have finished inputting and you will have access to both sets of ratings and can move between them if you choose to.

@Mark I've put your ratings into GS and some of the best players like Messi and Ronaldo ratings have dropped by approx 10%. Does that sound about right? the highest potential is Mbappe with 92.2%

Mbappe is the best player in FM21.

Appreciate that but he wasn't before I put the ratings from Mark in, Ronaldo and Messi were both mid 90 and now Messi is 83 and Ronaldo 86. Ousname Dembele is showing as the 2nd best player on the game

Guys, if you'd ask me then you're being too geeky about it. :)

You really don't need that accuracy just use common sense.

The higher CA, the better. The more important attributes at the highest level, the better. It's really simple as that for me.

If that was the case then why is Dembele rated higher than Messi when his CA is less?

I have no idea who and why rated them like.

When I look at them I rate Messi higher than Dembele and I don't need any complicated tools to do that as I said for me everything is quite simple and no need to complicate simple things :)

I appreciate that and I am trying to keep it simple, it was just a case of trying to understand it a little better to help me make the correct decisions when it comes to buying players.

I'm of the sort opinion, Messi is miles better than Dembele, but according to the game using those ratings, he isnt

That's why I'm against those ratings, they make simple things to be complicated and as you can see their advice are quite weird.

You're comparing ratings from different positions. Winger, using @Mark's ratings is the easiest position to get high rating in because it's all about Pace and Acceleration which are basically the only two attributes that matter for that position (the next most important attribute is 4 times less important) - that's why Dembele is rated so high - that doesn't mean that he is 2nd best player in the game - just that he may be the 2nd best winger. You shouldn't really compare ratings between positions because the less attributes are needed for a certain position, the more likely it is a player will have a really high rating. Just use those ratings to compare players that play in the same position.

Obviously if you have unlimited budget then go for a player with the highest CA - but higher CA most of the time means more money and higher wages - that's also what those ratings are use for - you will be able to find players that overachieve their CA because they have their attribute points in the right places.

Lovely, Cheers @Egraam

To be honest, with a good tactic, you will win everything with Messi, Dembele, Mbappe, CR7 or any player in that level. The tactic and team management has way more importance than 0.1% extra efficiency.

Aye, completely agree with that

@Mark Do you think there's a contradiction between your strategy and the results of the testing on this site?

0

No, not at all. They are taking a generic approach across all positions. I have attempted to harvest all the data I could to try and distil it down to each position. Like everything in life it is a judgement call, and I am happy with mine. I dont know if you have followed all my posts, but I am playing 3 teams in 3 different countries - St Albans low tier England, won Vanarama South when favorites to be relegated, Macarthur FC A-League mid table side won A-League, Holstein Kiel mid tier side Bundasliga 2 side won Bundasliga 2. Second season St Albans equal leaders VNL, Holstein Kiel 3rd in Bundasliga and Macarthur yet to start their campaign. I am thinking the ratings are working. But like @Egraam said, the ratings are really comparing positional ratings not the best players.

Also to add to what @Mark has said, the ratings actually make sense when compared with fmarena results - the tests here have shown that Pace and Acceleration are the most important attributes across all the positions (because the tests show results of what happens when you decrease the attribute by 3 points across all the positions), and if you look at the table Mark has posted Pace and Accceleration are the only attributes that are there for all the positions (aside from GKs). So it makes sense the whole team plays worse when these attributes are decreased. Agility - the 3rd most important attribute according to fmarena tests - also appears to be important for a lot of positions in Mark's table.

Maybe the only one that Mark's table overvalues compared to fmarena tests is Decisions, but other than that I don't see many contradictions.

1

If I can give my opinion, I think the "flaw" of @Mark's model is to give importance to Genie Scout's default weighting. I agree that it should consider FM-Arena's table and the cost of attributes, but I don't see the point of using the default weights in the formula.

Not a big deal since he can have a different opinion and I respect the amount of work he put into it.

1

@Mark can you show me please how do pick transfers with these ratings?for example what do you look in genie to choose the targets, especially when you are a team at league one etc?

0

I would select the league and then sort by position. Look at around 20th and somewhere around that mark or a little lower should be fine, given the tactics here are pretty impressive. Double that so 40th or a little lower for duplicate positions like DCs.

0

hmm little bit confused here, sorry :( but if you could show me with some images will be fine.but anyway tnx a lot for your help

Hey people, do hidden attributes develop? Like Ambition, Pressure, Sportsmanship, Professionalism and Loyalty

No.

P.S.: Actually, every now and then you get a message saying your player personality got influenced by the squad general characteristics, which I suppose is a development to hidden attributes.

You can change hidden attributes only throughout Mentoring but that's a quite complicated task I must say.

Also, I think Important Matches and Consistence can improve when a player gets older.
