as a southampton fan i thought i could create a system that we might end up playing next season.
i may well be a move from 433 to more of a 343 formation with 3 cbs all offering an extra man on the pitch to go back to or switch play.
1 sort of holding midfielder and another playmaker that operates in the channels
one winger to stay quite narrow to the striker and the other staying wider. in turn the wing back behind the winger that tucks would then offer width on the outside and the winger that stays wider the wingback you operate narrower.
The striker would be on a roam from position that means he can draw defenders out and make space for the narrow winger to cut into.
