Is the game even realistic atp or are we all gaslighted ?

As long as I can remember Football Manager games have always been praised for it's realism and great football representation however this year's discoveries such as:
- training being completely broken and irrational,
- pace and acc being by far the most important stats for a player (while some stats don't even matter at all),
- still massively flawed game engine which leads to all the good tactics using the same instructions,
- set pieces still being broken,
- illogical player interactions,
- ai managers making stupid decisions (mostly not giving enough playtime to the wonderkids which leads the save to stagnate as no new talents emerge),
.....and possibly more new flaws to get revealed by the community have led me to think that we may not actually play what we think we are playing. I'm not saying that the game is not fun and I know that no game is perfect and there is always gonna be shortcomings in some way but I think we can all agree that the dissapointments this year overwhelm the positives.

I think people get way too hung up on terms like "realistic" or "simulation". It's our expectations that are probably way too high. In the end it's a game with it's benefits and flaws. Obviously it can't function as real life, most things have to be dumbed down so you can actually put it into code. And just like any game there are things that translate better and some worse, some stuff sort of gets dragged with minimal changes for year or decades, as in any game there are cookie cutter builds/tactics, certain ways of playing more successful than others ... On top of that the game is intentionally beatable, meaning an average player can have success within reasonable timeframe (=way way shorter than in real life).

So maybe if we started treating it as a game and just that, there would probably be a lot less of these types of frustrations. It's still the best football management game ever by far and it doesn't look like that is about to change very soon.

Well is it? 99% of FM players just use normal training schedules and train players in their player role, which will cause them to have normal progression. So for any normal FM player, it works just fine. Games will always have loopholes and possible exploits, doesn't mean that is completely broken.

Yeah agree, it's silly how bad a player can be with the ball in FM and still play at the highest level in the world.

I've won the CL playing everything from tiki taka to route one football, so if you can play any style and win matches, how bad is it really? The good tactics you refer to aren't just good, they are completely broken and achieve totally unrealistic results. They will also always exist to some extent, but they can be limited.
