How to use GenieScout to only view players whose attributes have been unmasked/scouted?

by Middleweight165, Feb 15, 2025

I have always played with attributes unmasked but with Meta tactics + positional attribute test results + use of GenieScout the game has become too easy and boring.

I'd like to start playing as close to real life as possible.

I'm going to still use Meta tactics as I dont have the time to invest in tactic development, already have knowledge about what is meta and potentially controversially believe there are meta tactics in real life

I will continue to use GS to evaluate players but will not view any info that is not visible in game, the only addition being a positional score for each player based on the findings of this site. I would use an excel sheet to calculate this anyway so just see GS as a way to avoid doing this manually.

My question is now having started a game with attribute masking enabled, how do I only view those players with attributes unmasked? My idea was that every player whose attributes I have unmasked would go into a shortlist and I would then view that shortlist in GS. Is this viable? Are attributes only unmasked via scouting or are there other mechanisms?

Well known players also have attributes revealed, although maybe a few stay with ranges.

You could try filtering by scouting knowledge, test it out a bit which level throws out the players with all attributes revealed.

I feel the same. I want to use meta tactics as they are fun and score lots of goals, but I always seem to buy the same players or use genie scout too much.

I have jus started a new save with a blank database and used the option to create players. I then went on holiday for 5 years so more regens created.

I have kept attr masking on and am not going to use genie scout.

To find players I have create views with the meta attributes in order instead of using genie.

An option if you still want to use genie would be to create a shortlist with only scouted players and  just view this within genie.

I play in a similar way.
To see only the players in the shortlist, you can use Ctrl+L (Load Players List) in Genie.

Thanks for the reply. I'm playing in the National League North. Attribute masking is on. I've tested with the scouting range at UK and Ireland but even clicking on Man City only the very best players have complete attributes. Most have ranges.

I would like to make this as realistic as possible. I don't want 100s of trial players, maybe a maximum of two each time. Is the only way to see the attributes of players by scouting individuals? I dont even have any scouts employed so not sure what to do

I'll do that, I think my issue is actually finding players. How do you do it? As I said in a previous reply, I'm playing in the National League North. Attribute masking is on.

Well trialing 100s of players is the way to go in lower leagues. It's free and fast. Regular scouting gets you nowhere

Its not realistic though. Is that my only option? What happens at the next stage? Say i employ a scout surely i dont need to scout players indvidually

I start the game without checking the “Do not Add Key Staff” box, so I start with a scout. If you want to play with a maximum of 2 trials, I think you should at least start with a scout. I respect your realistic gameplay, but it makes it impossible to find players.

How would I use the scout? Do I scout individual players or is there a way to get more players scouted?

Use Recruitment Focus. You give the scout the range you want and he finds the right players for you. There are a lot of tip videos on this.

Recruitment focuses aren't amazing and you'll scout maybe a dozen or two players per month, not even in full. Plus it costs a fortune in lower leagues. Is it more realistic? Sure, but it'll make the game considerably harder
