Suggestions for FM 26

by ZaZ, Oct 18, 2025

I have a set of plans for early FM 26, and would like to hear your suggestions of what to add to the plan. My tests when the game is released include:
- Tactics, with one or two submissions a day for FM Arena.
- Hiring players, for optimal impact in transfer budget and finances.
- Negotiating contracts, for optimal impact in wage budget.
- Selling players, for optimal revenue.
- Training schedule and resting, for minimizing injuries and promoting focused growth.
- Interactions, with thresholds for positive feedback, to optimize morale management.
- Team talk and touchline shouts, with guidelines for positive feedback.
- Set pieces, to further improve the tactics.
- Scouting and finding good players without third party tools, trying to identify players with high PA and positive hidden attributes.
- Youth player intake, how to optimize the CA and PA of new players, and if it is possible to influence their positions.
- Player traits, trying to identify if any of them is noticeably efficient.
- Opposition instructions, to improve tactics even further.

Is this enough, or is there anything else you would like me to investigate?

Looks good and I look forward to seeing the results this yields. Ive asked before, but do you know any plans on changes to tactic testing going into FM26 with new IP and OP formations? Does anyone know how long itll take to setup the testing database and how long itll take to get it running?

For me personally, #1 thing I'd like to learn about in FM26 is how dominant physical attributes are

They are usually pretty fast, and I believe they will test the combination of IP and OP (which will probably be saved together).

All of these sound really good. Maybe add mentoring and it's impact (assuming it still exists) as well as just general personality and hidden attributes progression as players age.

I've always had a soft spot for youth intakes. Not usually your area but perhaps later on in the cycle when you've completed the above I feel there is still some hidden information. Specifically I feel that some effects are immediate as in the day before intake, some before preview and some (and this might be a bit tinfoil hat theory) might take 2-3 seasons to show.

I might investigate intake, and I also believe it considers your setup in the exact day of intake, and not before or after that. I will add it to the list.

About mentoring, it is a bit harder to verify, because it happens over a long time and there are many variables that can influence development during that time. I simply think it is not worth the time investment to check how mentoring works, compared to other stuff.

About progression of attributes with age, I can check it later considering not only hidden attributes, but also physical, technical and mental. I will see if it can be done, but it is also time consuming and will be left for later.

This is more of a website suggestion, but on the tactics table I'd love to also search by Player Role not just by Position.

Well, I don't work at FM-Arena.

Player traits and opposition instructions.

There is a site support and suggestions section under forums

Sure, I will add that.

I've done some testing of this, just to rule out the possibility that reloading my saves just prior to intake wasn't affecting results of PA testing I was doing. There was no difference, for reloading just before intake as compared to starting new save from scratch each time.

Here a simple 424 that has been working well for me. Below are some results in holiday mode, just starting a new game and setting the tactic (no team selection, set pieces, or anything else).

Hi, Max! I will work on some efficient set pieces later, but there are some very good ones being shared around.

Hi do you have any advice for away games or against a bigger team?

This tactic is generally good for away matches or bigger teams. If anything, I would use a more attacking tactic for home matches or against smaller teams, just to see more goals happening. I am working in one right now, but I am not entirely satisfied yet.

I didn't notice much difference compared to beta. About the more attacking tactic, it is not there yet, but I can post the current iteration below. It has a much better goal scoring ability, but I still want to get the win rate a bit closer to Winter tactic.

@ZaZ  thank you Zaz but what’s the difference between the winter and summer tactic also which one is better?

Winter:
- Defense oriented, good when you want to play safe.
- Concedes up to 50% less goals than Summer (depends on the team).
- Two DMs needed.
- Slightly higher point per match (win rate) than Summer.

Summer:
- Attack oriented, good for matches where you want to see lots of goals.
- Scores up to 50% more goals than Winter (depends on the team).
- One DM and one AM needed.

I will keep this version of Summer here. It scores less than Summer 0.2, but it is more balanced and has a better win rate (point per match) than Summer 2. The difference of this to the other is that in this version the frontline is set to track back in OOP. (Number is 0.1 because it was tested before 0.2. I did 0.01 - 0.10, then the best tactic of that group was called 0.1. Then 0.11-0.20, and the best was called 0.2.)

For anyone interest in how I decide which tactic is best, my tests are based on 8 league runs with different teams, then I rank the results and discard the best and worse, using the sum of middle 6 ranks as my score.

Thank you @ZaZ so for plug and play which tactic do you recommend as I wanna run a test?

Winter 0.1 is more solid, so it has less variance. Summer 0.1 will give you more big wins, but also some losses that wouldn't happen with Winter 0.1. Personally I prefer Winter 0.1, but it is more about what you prefer to see in play.

I will add some screenshots for Summer 0.1 later today as well.

Pictures added to Summer. I should probably upload it to the tactics area, even though tests did not start, just so people can find them more easily.

Hi @ZaZ : All 3 tactics are super solid, is it possible to publish an excel file showing the scores of your test runs.

Sure, I will organize a spreadsheet here with the best iterations of my tactics, and add other good tactics for reference.
