FM26 is a complete mess, nothing works properly.

This tactic is very effective against teams on my level or weaker, but I end up losing heavily against stronger teams. What could be causing that?

With this tactic you can go from non league to league winners in straight seasons and probably win the champions league the year after.

You need to replace any players who are slow - acceleration and pace are the most important attributes.

Looks like since the ME update you need to sell your strikers and buy more mids

Strikers work just fine in the SS role, even with no AMC familiarity.

@Bar2 Avoid fielding slow players if at all possible, regardless of their technical and mental attributes. Likewise, pace and acceleration are your first filter when signing new ones.

The original had sit narrow and stay wider, this has stay wider on both WBs.

I usually class tactics for ELITE TOP MID TABLE UNDERDOG.
P108 may be better for ELITE TOP this tactic for MID TABLE UNDERDOG

1. Does a back 3 work better than a back 4 this year (fm26)? Why?

2. All the top tactics seem to have a very low defensive line, why? This is definitely a change from last year

3. What would you recommend (for this tactic and similar) if chasing a game?

4. Related to question 3. These are amazing, counter attacking attacks....what do you recommend as your best pressing attack? Why are these (deep, counter attacking tactics) so superior this year?

hanks, I’ll focus on signing faster players. My team scores a lot but also concedes a lot, and I have a 35-year-old slow centre-back, so that’s probably the reason. Passing and vision should be important for defenders too, right? Since we’re using the ball-playing defender role

The Champions League might be a bit of an exaggeration   but you’re right, this tactic gives really good results overall.

I don't know why ALL the tactics I'm using in this FM are working at the beginning and then, little by little, the results start to fluctuate negatively, even against opponents that aren't difficult. I still don't understand why this is happening. But all these ARGUS tactics had a great start and then began to decline. I don't know if the game wants tactics to be constantly rethought.

Same here. Every single tactic I try stops working over some time. I use Real Betis, and when I first load these OP tactics, I beat Barcelona, Madrid, everyone with ease. However, after 9-10 games I just start losing games every week even though morale and sharpness are perfect for everyone. Really not sure why this keeps happening.

I just went from winning at Bernabeu with Betis original squad from 2025 to losing 6-1 to Lille and it could have been 10. Same tactics, everything absolutely the same. I think the tactics in FM24 way were more consistent.

@faris74 @Tatui What I found is that you simply have to ride it out, those few games you lose are the game forcing "a poor run of form" on you regardless of tactics or players. Once that passes, you continue winning.

It happens before or after patches, so has nothing to do with it. I think the game is forcing you to lose sometimes just to break your form, because it makes 0 sense to lose these games with a tactic like this and when you take previous amazing results into consideration.

For example, I just went on a 3 game winless streak to 3 random teams (with Betis in 2026) and then went to Liverpool at Anfield and won without issues. Makes no sense.

Very possible. I think in FM24 it was different, OP tactics were consistently good, in FM26 have much higher "highs" but also random lower "lows"

My theory is that perhaps the game makes certain tactics more effective against ours and others less so. This would force us to approach each game with a different formation depending on their tactics. However, it seems that other people perform fantastically and more efficiently using the same tactics consistently, so for some other reason it's not working for us.

It’s not a plug and play tactic. If you don’t have the right players you won’t get the best results. Re training players is needed to get the best out of it. This tactic won 82% of its game during testing. You will lose games, no tactic is 100% unbeatable. Don’t plug this in to expect to win every game. You’ll win majority yes. Not all
