Concord Career - From Rags to Riches

My goals for next season is to be promoted to Premier League, which won't be so easy since Sky Bet Championship is way harder than previous divisions. Since some teams come from Premier League, they arrive with better squad and way more money than everyone else, so I need to build a squad to at least reach play offs.

well done ZaZ,great job your doing there mate.

Thanks! I have around 2.5 mi euros per year of wage budget, which means around 250k per position (for two players). Some players will definitely ask more than that to renew and I will need to let them go (or wait for the end of contract), but I hope I can build some acceptable squad to get promoted.

tks for the series, a lots of playing tips is very helpful

do you have a special training calendar or how can it be better configured so that players recover faster?

Same training from first page of blue. To recover faster, I usually rest tired players from training after matches, one or two days (depending on how tired they are). Last season, for example, I had two matches per week all year long, with only three times with full week to rest.

Hi, ZaZ, first of all congrats on the running so far. I am really enjoying to read it.

I would like to ask if you have any filter to search players for your tactic and if yes, what are the attributes that you usually search and which value do you put on it to filter players in a better way?

Acceleration and Pace 12+. Sometimes it's less after revealed, but that's my only filter right now.

ZaZ said: Six matches into Sky Bet League Two (so I can skip ten at a time until fourty six matches of the season). My team is again predicted last by a large margin, but promotion should be easier since there are three direct promotions plus one in play offs (lower divisions have one direct plus one in play offs).

I have hired 8 new players, upgraded contract of 14 from last season to full time and sold (loaned out) everyone else. The new squad of 22 players has an annual cost of 586k euros, from ~360k from past season.

Season has been rather good this year. Other than pre-season cash grabbers, I have won all official matches. I'm rotating a lot, with second team playing Carabao Cup and Papa's John Trophy while main team focuses on the league. My initial goal is to earn 282k euros to get a positive balance projection, then I want to use any leftovers to start upgrading my facilities (still everything in the worst quality).

Below are media odds, projection of finances, competitions, schedule, squad and player in best form. Let me know if you want to see the full profile of any player. Tyler Magloire is a beast in speed.

Hi ZaZ

Ive started a save with Blackburn Rovers (in championship) i seen you mentioned Tyler Magloire (CB) who ive got at Blackburn in u21's but ive promoted him to my 1st team bcz his pace/acceleration is 19 and 20 and i remember you saying them 2 attributes are the most important. Do you rate him highly bcz of his high pace and acceleration. I have better defenders in an overall defensive attributes but i play Magloire bcz he's so fast.

I like him, but I wouldn't say he is the best defender in the world. I would say every point of pace or acceleration over 10 is worth two or three of other important attributes, so a player with high attributes everywhere and 15 or 16 in pace and acceleration will probably be better.

Hi Zaz. How important are roles for you? For example You want to buy mezzala and you have this two optioms:

Player 1
BWM 4 stars
Mezzala 2.5 stars

Pace 15
Acc 15
Dribling 15
Antycypation 15

Player 2
Mezzala 4 stars
Pace 13
Acc 13
Dribling 13
Antycypation 13

What is more important in Your opinion? Role suitability or atributes?

Read "Role Ability" on the first post of Blue.

Would you consider him to be great at Championship level i no he ain't prem level though

For a team with lower budget, yes. If you are in the upper budget of the league, then he is weak.

Just got back to next season, Sky Bet Championship. As usual, media predicts me to end last, but this time it will be way harder to be the champion since at least three teams just came down from Premier League (income difference from TV is brutal). My goal is obviously to be promoted, but I will be happy to do it through play-offs (up to 6th).

With money from transfers and participation in championships, I managed to get a new upgrade to training facilities, youth recruitment and coaching, so my facilities are starting to look top grade (still finishing training and youth facilities). My goal is to upgrade facilities yet again this year before being promoted to Premier League.

Half my team wanted their contracts renewed, with most of them wanting to increase their wage from ~20k a year to over 300k. Since my goal is to pay around 250k for each position (divided by two players), I had to release those players and hire new ones with similar ability. My current wage budget is 1,250mi euros per year. I also sold my best player for 9m euros (5m + 4m in installments), with a loan back option. The offer was just too good to pass, considering board forced me to accept when other teams offered 2m.

Since I got lots of money selling my player for 9mi, I can now increase my budget to pay 500k per position (divided by two players). That means I will start scouting new players and renew my key players with this higher budget. It will happen gradually over the season and I hope to improve at least 3 to 5 positions, getting a good backbone for the next season.

Could only play a couple of matches today. Season started well, despite the elimination from Carabao Cup in the very first match (it's actually a given, I don't like that competition). Since I expect this championship to be harder, I'm putting more effort at keeping morale high, by praising/warning them every week for training, as well as previous match and form every five matches. I added a picture of wage expenditure from my league, and you can see top team spends almost 100m per year while I barely spend 2m.

For changes in the squad, I had to hire a new striker due to a long injury in one of my players (10 months long). I also got problems in the left midfield since both players are currently injuried for 4-8 weeks, and one of my DM is also out for 10 weeks.

Other than that, I started renewing contracts with players that have ability to play on the Premier League next year. There are several players whining about contract, asking to increase their annual wage from ~20k to almost 500k, but I'm managing to postpone that with simple talking. I'll check my options next transfer window to see which can be substituted for cheaper players of similar quality, then renew the ones that deserve to stay.

P.S.: The run is on hold since I'm doing some tests for set pieces.

2

After 15 matches, my team is barely leading by goal difference. I got another long term injury (6 months) in one of the strikers (again), and both my goalkeepers got injuried at once. Other than that, I renewed contract with most my players that would expire this year (two more to go) and kept morale in good shape despite some bad results.

After every single match, my ritual is to rest players (half heart for 2 days and 75% heart for 1 day if less than a week to rest), compliment players to increase morale (last match > 8), and once a week compliment everyone that trained over 8.

I changed my tactic to Blue 3.1, which is the same as before, but with improved set pieces. I'm now observing the set pieces during matches to see if I can spot some flaw like taking too many goals in far/near post or anything like that.

2

After 25 matches, I got a really bad sequence of matches and dropped to second place in the table. It's not ideal, but not a big deal either since I'm now 5 points ahead third place, giving me some lead in the promotion race.

My training and youth facilities finished upgrading and board is now upgrading youth facilities again. I'm trying to get some money to upgrade training facilities too, so either I do well on FA Cup against Aston Villa or I'll have to wait for the end of season rewards. Board also accepted to improve again my youth recruitment and coaching and the youth intake for this year will be five stars (possibly because my youth setup is becoming top notch and the quality of my team is still terrible).

Other than that, transfer window just opened and I got a free player as replacement for my ML (pictures below). I have been searching for a replacement for that guy for over a season, so I'm really glad to find it as a free agent. Board also accepted to increase my staff size to 10 members, so I can finally have one exclusive person on each workout as well as one on everything to lower training load. I also assist since my profile is set to get 5 stars on quickness training.

It's just an update to set pieces. It's still being tested, though.

Things went downhill in the second half of season. I lost FA Cup in the second match, then had a terrible run that knocked me out of promotion zone. Luckily I managed to do a first half of season which allowed me to go to play-offs. Judging by the level of my players, that's probably the expected result, so I shouldn't complain much.

Now, either my players find the victories again, or they will have to stay another season away from Premier League. Let's see how it goes in the play-off matches.

P.S.: First match got me nervous, but second was really easy. We are promoted to Premier Division!

7

Just in case anyone is curious, I decided to show the FM Genie Scout of my team, to reveal their current ability. Ratings are default. To be clear, the program wasn't used during the run and won't be used for new signings, but since it's now revealed, I might use that information to decide who would leave the team for Premier League.

After so many tests, I'm finally back to the Concord career.

Once again, media predicts me to finish last by far. My annual wage expenditure is 11 million euros, while top teams are over 300 million. I obviously don't expect to win in this first season, so my goal is to grab a spot on Euro Cup to increase my club's stature.

Premier League brought me a huge sum of money, so I started upgrading my infrastructure and hiring seven or eight new players. Board is currently planning a new stadium and upgrading training and youth facilities, and I plan to bring a couple more of faces by the next transfer window. My goal is to replace both my DWs for AML/R, so I can fully migrate to Blue 4.0 (currently training both Blue 4.0 and Blue 4.0 DW, so I can use either winger as needed).

For the first matches of the season, I believe things are going pretty well. I don't believe I'll end the championship around the top, but it's free to dream about that.

Other than that, there isn't much going on. Players are asking for new contracts and I keep denying then, but if they offer an ultimatum, I'll gladly renew with anyone. Can't keep paying 20k wage forever in Premier League.

P.S.: I changed my motherboard, so my Windows license isn't valid anymore. That's why you have the watermark by the corner.

7

To help keep morale high, remember to praise your players every week for training rating when you receive the training report. It usually increases morale for all players above 8.0.

2

It's a good habit to give some rest to your most tired players after every match, especially when you have only 3 or 4 days in between. It not only recovers their condition but also prevents injuries and fatigue.

Thanks! I'm trying to add some tips of stuff I do when playing to see if it can help anyone. I'm by no means a pro player, so anyone can feel free to give tips back!

1

Look at Beck. Goal at 54', yellow at 56', penalty and red at 58'. In less than five minutes, he went from heaven to hell and made me lose the match. I could avoid it if I changed him to Ease Off Tackles after he got his first card. It's a good practice to do, remember that!

A great save this ZaZ, i find it really interesting that you've even put post up through the save of what you do with your squad to help others out. Keep up the good work mate.
