Further boosting of Phoenix v3.0 tactic performance

by Magician, Jan 24, 2021

Hi there!

I've got a tip for you that can bring the performance of Phoenix v3.0 tactic on the next level, at least it works that way for me.

So here's the tip. If you draw or lose with Phoenix v3.0 tactic after the 1st half then change the mentality to "Very Attacking" at the beginning of the 2nd half. It'll turn on "Berserk Mode" for the shadow strikers and increase the goals output of the tactic for about 30%! If you score and start leading then change the mentality back to "Attacking".

If you play the FM Touch version and use "Instant Result" then you can create these match plans.

IMPORTANT: Ask you assistant manager to make substitutions only after 70 min.

Also, it's very important to know that the MC position is one of the most important positions in the tactic because it greatly contributes in scoring goals and making assistance.

For example, in my test with Man City Kevin De Bruyne scored 44 goals and made 33 assistances at the end of the season, the MC position was among the highest scoring positions in the tactic.

So for the MC position you need a player who can score goals and make assistance.

Does it increase conceded goals too ?

Match Plans is where AM take care of things. Like making subs without asking you first.

Any match plan is telling me that you are a failure manager and AM doing a better job from you.

Cautious will reduce the amount of goals while giving you around the same chance of winning the match and saving a bit of energy. It's effective even if you are 0-0 or with a one goal lead, not bringing much risk of losing while resting your players. Very defensive, on the other hand, is better if just for a short time or if you have a massive lead, since you basically give up on scoring opportunities and might risk the result if the enemy manages to find a goal. However, it rests your players way better. You can always use both. Too bad you can only train 3 mentalities at once.

Yes, you need to be careful it also increases the amount of goals you concede

I can confirm. central midfielder is the most important position in this formation.

Can you show a Match plan for Light Blue ?
I want to auto change to Light Blue, I can see that we can add some touchline instructions with match plan

It depends on what you want to achieve. Sometimes I use Light Blue from start when opponent is stronger, because not winning can make the opponent nervous and make mistakes. Then I switch to Blue at second half to take advantage of that. Sometimes I play the entire match with Light Blue because I need to rest players, when I have two matches in three days and my squad is too small to rotate. Other times I just change to Light Blue when winning by one or two goals to hold the score and avoid risks. Anyway, if you are playing with a good team, I would just put to change to Light Blue when winning by two or more in the first half or 1 or more in the second half.

The problem is, Light Blue is a tactic made to concede less goals, rest players and receive less cards, while not being much worse than Blue 2.0. If you don't care about resting and making less fouls and just want to concede less goals, then it's better to just change the mentality to cautious. While cautious Blue 2.0 would score 6.9-7.0 here, Light Blue would probably score 6.6-6.8, since wasting time and staying on feet have a cost in performance.

Hi Magician,

You play with a right-foot on left wing and a left-foot on right wing.
It is better to play with inverted feet for wingers ?

Hi,

I find the tactic works better with a left footed winger on the left and with a right footed winger on the right.

I feel like that too, but I would like to test if it's true or not. I think it might not make much difference since this formation scores very little from crosses.

I don't think it's about better crossing I think it's about better penetration inside the box. It looks like wingers do that more easily than inverted wingers

That makes sense, since cutting to the middle is usually a horizontal move, opening for a shoot, while dribbling to the outside is more vertical, to cover more distance closer to the byline (and therefore closer to the box).

P.S.: Checking the video, you can also notice that a player more wide in the field usually has more space to run and make use of his speed, with a bigger distance to opponents. That increases the chance to succeed in dribbling, which makes it a better decision. That way, wide winger with same feet attempt infiltration more often than those with opposing feet.

So what are the most important attributes for the CM position? My player at this position get very low ratings quite often as I'm in a very bad team, while my CDs and SSs can get higher ratings easily, even their CAs are less than my CM

@cadoni stop acting like that and offend people, this is the last warning.

Hi mate,

From my experience of using Phoenix 3, I’ve found the key stats for CM are:- acceleration, off the ball, work rate, finishing and composure. This is because the CM is always moving and often breaks clear of the defence to have 1-1’s so must be good in front of goal to capitalise. I once had camavinga in CM and he was awful as he has poor finishing and composure. Now I play with Alena who is much less in terms of ability but he scores for fun!

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me a bit more about inverted wing back ? I don't know what kind of players i should look for..

Btw, I look forward testing it with small teams so no top players.

Cheers

IWB are wingers that cut inside and become midfielders when you have the ball. They make your team have more options for short passing in the middle, while keeping your flank protected.

For stats, the most important are Acceleration, Pace and Agility. Other than that, they don't need much crossing since they rarely cross the ball anyway. In other words, look for the stats of a DM or CM, but with high speed attributes.

I prefer having players like Joe Gomez, Éder Militão, Kieran Tierney and other similar players because they are able to cover multiple positions in the tactic, for example, the BPDs and IWBs positions.

Acceleration, Pace, Agility, Vision, Dribbling, Anticipation and Decisions are the main attributes for the IWBs.

Hey, with these tables in mind, what position do you feel would best suit this guy? He seems to fit the mould of your SS attributes of finishing is indeed not seen as important, but he hasn’t found his scoring boots in that position for me yet. What do you think? Keep as LW or keep retrain as SS? Or sell??

Hi,

I think he'll do great at both positions LW and SS. Also, he's left footed and there aren't many good left footed wingers in the game so I would think of selling him only if I had few left footed winger who are better than him.

Great, thanks mate. I was playing sancho LW so I might swap them round to maybe have Sancho SS and this guy at LW to make use of his left foot preference

@Magician
If you set up Match Plan like this, for the first half the AM will change mentality to Balanced

Match Plans only work with the Instant Result and the Instant Result is officially supported only in the FM Touch version so I use Match Plans only in the FM Touch version and it works correctly for me, I haven't been noticing any issues.
