BJT – 442(iw.ver) Invincible / BJT – 4321.Compressor

Hi, after making my standard 442 with wingers, I decided to go on the opposite side of the spectrum with the clue in the name – Wenger’s Invincibles.

I’ve also tried to produce something completely illogical to me using a 4321 – which really is something outside of my comfort zone, as I always try to create systems built on logic.

A number of systems using this formation have tried to use wide players in the DM and Middle strata slots, so this has formed the basis of my 4321 shape tactic.

If you could give these both a run please that would be great.

BJT – 442(iw.ver) Invincible

This system attempts to create Arsenal’s Invincibles when Wenger had the magic touch. Using Inverted Wingers on the two flanks with the full-backs bombing up on each side, Dennis Bergkamp a constant menace looking to find room to work in deeper besides Thierry Henry.

The tactic uses very short passing at an extremely quick tempo, which should hopefully promote football on the deck, causing teams problems all over the pitch with the wide overlaps and creativity through the middle.

You won’t see any passing into space with this one, but much greater build up play on the grass, and with a more technical outfit this should play some great football.

OIs

The OIs for my 442 are as follows:

LB/WBL/ML/AML : show onto left foot
RB/WBR/MR/AMR: show onto right foot
SC: Show onto weaker foot

Test Results

It seems a fairly solid alternative 442, winning the Quad with Liverpool and also winning the VNL comfortable with a decent enough 94 points, missing 100 goals by the single one. Would love to see how consistent this variant is.

BJT – 4321.Compressor

This is my outside the box system for this year’s FM. The idea is to purely press, not a deal of creativity within the side, with the objective to try and win the ball high up, and try to create space for our wingers if building a little deeper.

They will simply chuck the ball into the box with effectively 3 strikers in their, with two coming in from deep, hoping these sort of runs will cause defenders more issues.

The midfield is comprised of Inverted wing-backs and a Deep lying playmaker to try to keep things ticking along.

The side has also been instructed to be more disciplined, using a more direct approach.

OIs

LB/WBL: show onto left foot
RB/WBR: show onto right foot

ML/AML: show onto weaker foot
MR/AMR: show onto weaker foot

SC: show onto weaker foot

Test Results

Well, the results seemed quite illogical as well on this one!

First test season with Liverpool Season 2 achieved 100+ goal difference. We won a treble, scoring 116 goals and conceding 16.

2nd test season in an attempt to scoop all trophies, we did complete the quad – with a mere 83 points in the league winning on goal difference, which was so much smaller compared to the first test. Big variance, but all trophies.

With Chester, a tight run thing but we snatched promotion on goal difference in the end. I actually thought this might have performed better with them given it’s a more disciplined approach and direct game.

It would be great to see how both these systems do, especially the illogical 4321 shape given the variance in league points but successful seasons.

Thanks Again

Haha, it's not just me then. I rekon Team A has Phil Jones and Chris Smalling at the back ;)
BJT 442.x3f2 20.4 /  BJT 235.fcb - Pep’s Bayern 20.4

Hi, I’m hoping to get another couple systems tested if you could do please.

My bog standard 442 is one that I always try to create that can be used at all levels, has now been tweaked for 20.4, and be the first 442 tested that isn’t full out long ball.

The other is an update to my original replication of Pep’s Die Bayern 235 formation now for 20.4. I have done a similar thing to that of my Pep 2323 Metodo City Taka system, trying to make the tactic more usable for the ME, but retaining everything else.

The result, being less possession and more purposeful in attack – with that said, Pep’s Bayern at times played this more cut-throat way compared to Barca and City, so it won’t be too far off the mark.

BJT 442.x3f2 20.4

I am a big fan of the old skool 442 style of Sir Alex Ferguson. It worked really well first couple of patches, but since it had progressively got worse from every patch released thereafter.

So I’ve had to change the style slightly for this to work on the latest patch, and consequently no dedicated thread.

Instead of a Keane Scholes combination, I’ve moved to a Xabi Alonso and Gerrard one in the centre with a much narrower defensive width in play. Everything else has remained the same. So it instead adds a creative box to box midfielder in Gerrard who will also dribble frequently, with a more stationary deep lying playmaker with a greater passing expansive range.

It still has the classic deeper forward in Yorke/Rooney and the poacher Andy Cole/Ruud Van, with wing play remaining at the fore keeping that high tempo game United were so renowned for, and whipping crosses into the box at every opportunity.

OIs

The OIs for my 442 are as follows:

LB/WBL/ML/AML : show onto left foot
RB/WBR/MR/AMR: show onto right foot
SC: Show onto weaker foot

Test Runs

My usual Pool and Chester tests worked well. A quad again with Liverpool getting over 100 points and just missing a 100 goal difference which was a shame.

Chester also performed well, comfortably winning promotion from the Vanarama North with 98 points.

BJT’s 235 Pep’s Bayern 20.4

I’ve desperately wanted to get a 235 working respectably okay, as it’s my favourite eccentric formation. It’s nice just to search and buy world class talent all in the top third of the pitch once in a while, and simply rely on two class centre-backs to hold the fort.

Inspired from Bayern’s 1-6 demolition of Roma with Robben running riot at the Stadio Olimpico, it features Xabi Alonso as a DLP-S in front of the two ball playing centrebacks.

Two wingers maintaining the full width of the pitch, to try and leave gaps for the deeper playing Mario Gotze, and Shadow Striker Tomas Muller to work in, behind the Complete support forward in Lewandowski.

The design of this system will naturally mean it’s always going to be very fragile to play with inferior players – so it’s designed for a world class squad.

LB/WBL: show onto left foot

ML/AML: show onto weaker foot

SC: show onto weaker foot

Test Results

How consistently well it will work I honestly don’t know, hopefully the tests will give a better idea. But it is capable of winning all four trophies as with my 2nd season Liverpool squad we won everything.

In contrast, I was expecting a much tougher time with Chester with promotion probably unlikely and a potential sacking – but to my surprise the tactic got the job done with a respectable 92 points.

Would be nice to see how both of these get on, especially the 235 inverted pyramid shape.

Cheers
BJT
Yeah, that makes sense. Saw one of the bust the net videos not too keen on the trait, but to me it makes logical sense that if you can't finish well and also lack composure in front of goal, it's not a bad idea to just put your foot through it :)
Hi, I promised someone to upload my 20.4 tweaked 4231 here for a test run, so was hoping you could please give this a run through whenever you get a chance. I also have a 343 as well which I think works well and solid defensively for contrast.

BJT 4231-Klopp.Fury

The  4231 is my other Klopp version. The 433 version seems to have worked well from previous users, so would like to see how this one fares. It will give more goals than the 433, and is my personal favourite for the football played. It should be suited for favourite sides giving it will score more, but be less solid at the back.

This Fury version is a tweaked older version of mine for this patch. It is based on gegenpressing / very fast tempo game, with a pressing forward leading the line.

My original had won me a French league from PSG with Lyon 106 points and an ECL. The tweaks are on the defensive side and set pieces. The system also naturally can move well onto the Very Attacking mentality if you are pushing for a goal late on. And I’m hoping this will be my team A system!

The most relevant thread for Fury below, is with reference to a Klopp BVB style 4231 – although this latest version uses attacking mentality rather than very attacking as the base mentality, and settles on the PF-A role rather than AF-A.

OIs

The OIs for my 4231 slightly differ to that of my 433 shape:

LB/WBL/ML/AML : show onto left foot
RB/WBR/MR/AMR: show onto right foot
SC: Show onto weaker foot

Test Runs

My improved Pool squad in season 2 swooped all trophies. But my best ever test run though undoubtedly a bit of a red herring one, saw Chester finishing top with 109 points. Best points tally I’ve had in any VNL North tests I’ve run.

BJT 343 – Grinder 20.4

My other I’d love tested if you could do please is a 343 system I’ve created for this latest patch and favourite one of mine for using 3 at the back.

There is no thread for this one, but it is my other system on this patch I’ve achieved a quadruple with and won the VNL too and still scored quite well, just 1 point short of the 100.

It’s probably the most defensively solid from my systems, having 3 centrebacks and playing a narrow width making it hard to break us down.

For those who love a tight defence and like to frustrate and bore the opponents, hopefully this will be a good option.

Thanks very much for testing both of these. Back to the possession drawing board for the moment.

I love your team B btw :)
Cheers, hope they go well if you do :)
2323 Metodo

433 Hybrid

Hi, I noticed a little while back a request to test a couple of Metodo formation systems I created on an old patch.

I’ve decided to tweak my City Taka version this to the latest patch, and was hoping you would be kind enough to have this one tested, along with my new 433 hybrid system (which I'll detail later)

I have ran a couple of quick tests with both a superior 2nd season Liverpool squad I assembled, along with a run with Chester City in the VNL, and seemed to do well at both levels.

About the system

It is based on Pep’s Man City playing the Metodo formation. It is also at the time when Sane would play wide on the left and Sterling on the right, with David Silva and De Bruyne the offensive centre midfielders creating overloads with the wingers, with Fernandinho steadying the ship in behind. Aguero would be the False 9 up front.

Rather than the original which used a positive mentality, I have went onto the attacking mentality given the individual player mentalities is more what I wanted to see from the defensive trio, giving them all a positive mentality.

It should play some very nice Pep football on the eye which I aim for in all my systems, and with the right players it will be a very nice system to watch in action.

The original thread is here, when the objective was to produce very high possession stats like Pep sides have, and in the process resulted in a 66 pass move before scoring a goal – my best team move on FM.

https://community.sigames.com/topic/515940-bjt-tiki-taka-%E2%80%93-pep%E2%80%99s-barca-65-poss-av-la-liga-now-incl-city-taka-peps-man-city-69-peps-die-bayern-235-70/?tab=comments#comment-12308507

New Version

However this revised version instead balances good possession football, but with an effective counter-attacking game as the engine unfortunately simply doesn’t allow the most successful football with very high possession.

Nevertheless, the player movements and team moves on the pitch do reflect that of Pep’s style.

But I am still hoping that the possession statistics won’t be too bad, and will be a viable option for any users here who would like to play a possession based game with a degree of success, unlike the majority of the systems available at present, with only two systems above 55%.

Unfortunately I only play on FM touch, so I can’t get a real gist of how high this will be, and this test would help, hoping it might provide a further option.

Additional Test Request – BJT 433 Hybrid

If you could, I would really appreciate it to have a test done on my optimised Klopp / BJT 433 hybrid.

This particular system in an online 2 player game won me the FA Cup 1st season with West Ham against Liverpool 1-0 finishing 7th, and 2nd season finishing 2nd whilst winning the Euro Cup - With ingame tweaks of course.

It aims to blend the gegenpressing style of Klopp, but with the additional creativity I had in my own 433 system.

The two together seems to be quite effective, and the OIs above for my City Taka will also apply to this BJT 433 Hybrid. I have no thread for this tactic.

Here are some screenies from this save:

Many Thanks & Best Regards

Hi,

I am back with another :)

After the 433 gegenpressing system tested which seemed to work well overall, I was inspired to take a look at Klopp's BVB where he made his name.

Really enjoying the full blown intensity of the football played watching BVB vs Bayern in 2012, I have tried to produce this in my 4231 BVB.

Using a "Very Attacking" mentality with zero time-wasting it's hugely intensive but still incorporates a Gundongan and Gotze for that degree of creativity often absent in Klopp's current Liverpool. A bit naive football, but with a squad geared to this extreme approach that is the complete opposite of Tiki Taka it seems to work well.

Notably it achieved a Euro Cup spot in 7th position with Norwich and with Cove Rangers walked the Scottish Division 2 with a poor bunch of players. It's proved to be successful across different nations too.

So if you could get round to testing this more extreme form of gegenpressing for me I would very much appreciate it.

It forms part of my existing Tiki Taka Antidote / Gegenpressing Thread which can be found here:

Hi,

I've created a tactic that is going back a little bit to incorporate the dream Mourinho combination of Lampard and Gerrard in central midfield with Makelele sitting in behind.

This, combined with a vision of how I'd want to see them go about their business inspired this tactic.

I've had some decent results with it, including a Liverpool Quad 105 points and a Domestic Treble with Glasgow Rangers which can be found in my thread.

The link to my thread can be found here:

https://community.sigames.com/topic/517696-bjt-wom-%E2%80%93-433-lamps-n-stevie-g-designed/

It's probably my last system I'll look to create for this FM20 and it would be great if you could give this one a test for me.

Cheers,

Hi,

I've created a 433 based on gegenpressing and my thread can be found here:

https://community.sigames.com/topic/517245-bjt%E2%80%99s-tiki-taka-antidote-klopp-heavy-metal-%E2%80%93-433/

Notable successes include a quadruple with Liverpool, a Serie A with Napoli and finishing 9th with Villa first season.

It looks quite durable and would really appreciate if you could give this a test here.

Many Thanks,

Hi,

I've created a couple of systems based on Jose Mourinho and on his 4231 formation. If you could please give these a run through I'd very much appreciate it.

Primarily I'd like the Real Version tested as this was the most successful, although if you're able to test the more durable Inter version for contrast that would be great.

Hi. I was hoping you could please test my offensive 442 system tweaked to the latest patch.

The tactic achieved my objective of winning the ECL with FCP which happened 3rd season in, playing in a old skool Man Utd style.

The squad developed into one more suited to the system and style I wanted to play. It beat PSG in QF, Real SF, and eventually Liverpool in the ECL final. So it seems to punch above its weight, and also at a high level of football.

Many Thanks,

Hi,

I was hoping you could please give this system a test to see how it fares. It was designed purely to nullify the opponents creativity in both the DM / AM stratas, with the hope of nicking a goal to win the game.

Below is a link to my tactical thread:

https://fm-base.co.uk/resources/bjt-masterclass-%E2%80%93-361-nullifying-the-opposition-my-pragmatic-approach.206/

It won me a title with Inter keeping 27 clean sheets in 38 games conceding 13.
Another user played with Palermo, keeping 25 clean sheets in 34 games conceding 11.

It's very Italian in its design, so it would be good to know how it fares across the board.
