I usually rely on tactics from great people like RDF or Knap but I decided to start with a clean slate for FM22 and create my own tactic. I watched a few tutorials and video guides on YouTube on how to create a tactic and then created assymetric 433. The tactics key strength is the high number of chances it creates while being strong defensively. This is achieved by having a solid midfield base with a box to box (SU) and deep lying play maker (DEF) and a mezzala (SU) to cover across for the complete wingback (ATT) who bursts forward to provide crosses for the strikers and the inside forward on the opposite wing. The deep lying forward/target man (SU) is set to drift out wide and also drops into the half spaces to link up and play in the complete wingback (set the DLF to taget man support if you have a more physical than technical player for this role). The Full back on the opposite side provides plenty of assists for the 4 attacking players, moving into the space vacated by the inside forward as he drives into the centre of the pitch.

Player types you'll need:

Goal Keeper - Good aerial stats and distribution help dominate the box and cut down on chances from crosses

Centre backs - BPD needs good jumping/heading first touch, decisions and passing alongside the usual defensive stats

Wingback - pace, dribbling, workrate, off the ball, crossing, decisions - this guy is a key player!

fullback - the less technically gifted of your two fullbacks (there's a mirrored version to download too)

mezzala/box to box midfielders - workrate, teamwork, tackling, passing your mezzala should also have good decisions and anticipation as he'll be moving across to cover the wingback

Inside forward - pace, dribbling, off the ball, crossing, passing, finishing

Advanced forward - pace, off the ball, composure, finishing (heading and strength are a bonus too)

Deep lying striker - first touch, off the ball, decisions, passing, teamwork
Target man (alternate to the DLF) Jumping, heading, off the ball decisions, strength, team work, passing

Currently played 14, won 14 with Ipswich, in the beta took Newcastle to 3rd in the prem with it. It's important to tweak the tactic to balanced, cautious, positive as the match plays out and based on the strength of the opponent and also to switch between this and the mirrored version to throw off the AI managers. For set pieces I use a near post corner routine based on a tutorial from FMscout.

Season 1 was a success, 118 points 116 goals

Highest possession in the league averaging 59%+

Most goals from corners 22

Most passes completed

Most clear cut chances created

Most fouled team

Least goals conceded

Least shots against

17th highest net spend (ITFC already have a great squad for L1)

Bonne bagged 35 goals in 33 starts

Assists spread around amongst the attackng full backs/wing back / inside forward / mezalla and whoever is on corners (Tom Carroll for me)

I hope it helps people, let me know what you think.
