Out of interest is there a preferred way of making a more defensive or default version of a tactic like this (e.g. if you were running it with say like a Fulham, Palace or a Brighton for example)? I 100% can see how this would consistently damage with a top 6 side, but for mid table or lower I feel it would need to be a bit tamer?

Apart from the speciality tactics, you can tweak how you like but this is a quick guide
AWAY GAMES CONTROL and SUS

With regard to Away games it depends upon your own risk factor. I am gung ho and prefer to attack and perhaps win 1 game in 3. If risk adverse then use a defensive tactic and perhaps draw all 3 games.

As a defensive formation I would use4231 451/ 4141 as it has a DM and protects wings.



AWAY GAME TWEAKS -

Defensive /Balanced Mentality DM on Defend or HB WB on support

The LOE can be adjusted to MID BLOCK
CONTROL TACTIC

Remove Counter Press and/or Counter

For a SUS these are ideas to use.
Remove counter press counter

Stop WB runs by going to defend or no nonsense FB

Change mentality cautious/Defensive

full SUS would be to regroup and hold shape

Adjust SPs for more players to stay back

I tend to judge what to use by how the game is progressing as you may just to want to control game rather than a full SUS

Thank you. That gives me a load to work with. When the only things I haven't tweaked to much since starting the game is tactics which I've been grabbing from various places (e.g. here, dome of the ones on FM Scout, Josh Daly etc.). The ones on here are great but they are 110% the whole time and you just burn your team out unless you have a deep squad and can rotate. Just wanted go find other ways of turning them down apart from dropping the Tempo and time wasting.


I got everything except for Sus? Shut up Shop I'm assuming with minimal chances up front? (So that would be your defensive, bottom of the table vs top of the table tactic?, with the away being more like your mid table ability adjustments?).

It is much better to tweak yourself but I do post Speciality tactics.

SUS is to close out a game WASTE TIME. Park the Bus is being defensive from start of game. This would be very Defensive tactic below
