- Transfers: Only control scouts through scout meetings, and only hire between players they recommend. Yes or no?
- Club: start from lower division of England and climb to win Champions League, or start with weakest side from a top division and try to win during first season?
- Tactic: Play with a generic tactic, or a specific style or formation?
So, any suggestions? Expand
I usually play on full DoF or with shortlist from my scouts for A-grade recommends, from which I can suggest players for DoF to buy. Shortlist doesn't help if you're climbing from low-leagues tho, cuz it's always "out of date" if you climb fast enough.

I'm not a fan of DoF for hiring, they never get the player I want, and when they do, they pay double the price.

Pick one the weakest club in EPL and try to win EPL at least 3 times in a row and also CL.
Let's see how long does it take and how strong the team should be to achieve that.

Yep, but with transfers fully on my side things are too easy and game becomes boring after 3-4 seasons when I find enough cheap wonderkids DoF works much better at 23, but still tends to overpay for players on sub Shortlist is in-the-middle variant, but again, I let chief scout to arrange what to scout, else I'd just push scouts for certain players from my search filters
I will play Bournemouth, weakest side from Premier League, and my goal is to win Champions League within three seasons. I also expect to win Premier League in the second season, and qualify to Champions League in the second season.
The plan is to use scout meetings for transfers. I will tell what I want, then make choices based on their suggestions. No individual scouting or setting up custom assignments for main team. Trust the staff!
I will also control and hire for youth teams, and my goal is to have third reserve of each position from the youth team by the second season. That will require me have scouts on assignment for youth players (under 18). That doesn't conflict with previous rule (not using scouts), because players under 18 are very unlikely to contribute much to winning UCL within three years. I also want to have top youth setup within three years. Note that this doesn't help with the main goal, it's more of a fun goal because I think every team should have strong youth settings.
Finally, I will use Water tactic because it's my highest rated, but I might use another tactic on the youth teams for testing purposes (nice to see the movements in game).
I will create a new thread for that once I sort out a last version of Fire, Water, Wind and Earth, then I will start the run. All decisions will be explained, and I'm keen to hear comments and suggestions about those decisions.
First of all, I hope your wife is recovering from the surgery.
About your career, I'd suggest to start in an european country like Greece or Norway from 2nd division and try to hire only player with your country nationality.
About the tactics, maybe you can avoid to use the same role twice for adjacent players (for example BPD, CC, VOL, CA) just to make it more realistic.

Thank you! About the suggestion, I will keep it in mind for a future run, but right now I will do this one with Bournemouth.
Exciting Zaz will be following. I get bored of saves too easily, or frustrated at the match engine! So am looking to do something long term myself, although three seasons seems quick for the champions league!!
