You don't need to retrain someone into a defensive winger, you need to train to a player to play at ML and MR positions, it's a different thing, don't confuse them.
Obviously, if a player already has some playing rating for ML and MR positions then he can be trained faster to player there.

Hi, Made an account purely to leave a comment on this. Going into my 4th season in the Prem with Wrexham having had mid table finishes last 3 season (impressive already considering my wage budget etc). I decided to give this tactic a go and painfully sold all my great wingers and central midfielders in order to swap them for suitable players at AM and DW positions. I found it quite tricky to get DW players that were suitable but i have managed it and let me tell you that this tactic works so nicely! Ive found it particularly effective vs the AI 4231 and 433 as it does really well at countering the opponents wingers. Ive attached a few screenshots of the current league table and a few players that i have working well in the DW position for reference (bare in mind my save is in the year 2031 so these players might not be valid in your own saves). As standard, tactics at the table are tested over 1,920 matches. But the top-of-the-table tactic is being tested over 5,760 matches in order to minimize the RNG factor. This event of being put to the test over 5,760 matches is called "Tornado", although it has no official name.

i am not sure what you mean... this tatic was created and tested on the version 23.0, right? the 23.3 had some changes on the gameplay and how some things work, so I believe that my question was fair enough i am starting now on this forum, not quite familiarized with all the procedures yet

exaclty, and I am asking if the changes released on patch 23.3 impacted this tatic (for better or worse), as the test was done on 23.3.0 and we are on 23.3.3 currently

It performed better on 23.3. 23.3.3 i think was the minor update and had no match engine changes so will have no effect on any tactics, the 23.3 tactics are all relevant.

wb/rwb is way more easier to retrain since they have strong foot for that side, which is rare nowadays for attacking wingers

It's been tested many times that the preferred foot doesn't matter

Probably, later today/tomorrow the top tactics will get an additional testing to find out whether the result was a fluke or not.
Mine results.
I changed two things because they weren't scoring goals and they were shooting a lot.
First i changed BPD to CD. Second i added Work Ball into Box.
Seasson 3rd with Zamora, just I got promoted to La Liga 2, and simulated whole seasson.
Awsome tactic, even for small clubs. But you also need a good players (at least the same level as league you're playing)

This is crazy good tactics! Side note, I swear to god this shape always does well in every iteration of fm since fm 20 or something.
