Optimal Training Schedules

Looks good, just remove the Overall and Outfield that were added automatically.

About role training, keep it if you are training players in a new position, else it is not needed. I believe it does not make much of a difference since the sessions do not train attributes for the role, just generic attributes, but I cannot confirm that.

I also have another question, on pre-season, do we also keep using these schedules? Btw, thanks for your great work and quick responses!

You are welcome! And yes, I use the same during pre-season.

When there are no matches, what kind of training program do you do?@ZaZ

You can either play a friendly match to keep match sharpness, or you can use the normal schedule and add one Recovery session in empty days (to keep match sharpness from dropping) to recover condition.

How do I do these training schedules on the console edition? When I go to training schedules there is only the pre set training focus.

I do not play on consoles, so I have no clue.

Hi Zaz, I'm brand new to FM on PC (only ever PSP and Mobile before) and am trying to get my head around A LOT of stuff - training being the thing that's consumed me the most...

My first thought when I looked at your schedules was "wow that's kinda empty", before then thinking "what about all of the other sessions available??"

I'm trying to create a clinical possession-based-dominance tactical style... so I wanted to use sessions like Ball Retention, Attacking Patient, Defending Disengaged etc.
I've attached a screenshot so you can see the sort of schedules I was trying to create, before seeing yours, so you can understand the direction I was heading.

Do the positives of having a fairly empty training schedule, and setting the full condition automatic training intensity to double, outweigh the benefits of using more sessions that are specific to your tactics?

Training in Football Manager does not change how the team perform in the field, it just affects how the CA increase (or decrease) over time. Even the sessions that are more focused in aspects of the game have no evidence to contribute to performance.

If your goal is to use training to increase key attributes for a possession based tactic, then you can check the tables in the link of the first post to see what sessions give the largest increase to attributes like passing and vision, for example.

Oh, that's a shame - would be cool if it did have more of an effect. But this whole thread makes a lot more sense to me now.. so thank you!

People ask them to improve training for ages, but they always ignore it, and in FM26 they made it even worse (at least to setup) than previous versions.

I agree training definitely needs an update. However it's honestly hard to believe they will ever really bother. Most people will buy the game anyway, and as long as they change something in the tactics making every year, enough people will get the next version of the game.

At this point there's so many things i'd like to see in the training part of the game. The issue also just could be if they make that part of the game too complicated, it becomes hard for new players to get into. Already seems to me that they are making the game more simple and easier to play, not more fun or interesting in my opinion.

Of course they will change training, eventually. But those changes happen once every 5-10 years, they won't reinvent the whole thing every year like we wish. For now their priority is making the game playable and at least at old levels of fun again so I don't expect any training changes in FM27, except maybe making it less of a hassle to handle but without major changes under the hood.

@ZaZ as always, much appreciated!  Quick question on individual training, do you switch focus after age 26, or do you keep training Quickness to keep those stats up?

Thanks!

I keep focus because I believe that helps them keep their speed until they retire.
