ZaZ - FM 27 Preview

by ZaZ, 2 days, 18 hours ago

Training this way stops your Tactical Effectinevess (esp. tactical understanding) from developing, which makes it even harder to get the results you want on the pitch. I played 1.5 seasons with ZaZ's schedules and the results weren't what I was hoping for. Then I spent just half a season on a different schedule and the results were impressive.

Alongside the general team schedule, I'd also recommend setting individual training for each player based on their in possession and out of possession roles. For the additional focus, go with Quickness as ZaZ suggests.

Been trying these tactics for some games now, and while in the other FMs I always got good results with your tactics, this year I can’t manage to win a game. I’m using AC Milan so a team that should be capable of winning matches with a good tactic, and using the Ace of Clubs with the striker but at the moment I’ve only won 2 matches out of 7 (between Serie A and Europa League), conceding almost 3 goals per match. How are you getting good results?

I assume it could be connected with your training schedule, as the man above said. 80% of ZaZ's training is focused on taking a rest.

Could you please share your training schedule so I can try it too? Using Zaz’s one but my team is not performing as I want

The thing I think maybe tactical effectiveness has a big impact. Try for a season and see if results pick up once the players know the tactics

@ZaZ  Confirm training intensity same as FM 26, full green double & anything below green no gym or pitch work??

You can copy his schedule from the screenshot and check it in-game, if he actually uses it

Like I stated before I am first finding out what formations work, then I will adjust team and player instructions during my career while I watch the team play. I should start my first career in FM27 later today. It takes more tests to define what formations to use because we do not have an editor yet, or tests from FM-Arena. Now that I have some foundation, I can build up from that. Tactics are always much weaker during beta, you cannot expect to win everything with a plug and play tactic when the game was released a bit more than a day ago.

Hi all,

Thanks ZaZ for the huge work you have been doing.

I have started to use the strikerless Ace of Clubs and got really really bad results with Brighton, 4L out of 4 games in PL.

I realized I didn't touch to the trainings, which was a big mistake because since I had a look at it with  the team getting acquainted with the tactic, results became more encouraging.

Seems obvious but worth reminding not to neglect this aspect.

Good luck and enjoy, everyone !

It definitely feels as though tactical understanding is important now. I was struggling with a basic superrest schedule but added some tactical sessions (well mainly just tactical session + rest) and saw a noticeable improvement. Not got a big enough sample size yet to say for sure.

Yeah, I recommend the same until proven wrong. I will start a career mode today and explain step by step my decisions, with screenshots and videos, and see how it goes. I will also take the time to observe how the tactics play in the pitch and make adjustments.

I'd honestly stick to assistant's schedules with maybe a few tweaks here and there until we know more, unless you want to test obviously. The risk of things going wrong by doing FM24/26 drastic schedules are currently greater than potential benefits. For example maybe "rest" no longer redistributes attributes into physicals as it used to, maybe now you are just plain losing CA. Not to even mention the tactical part of things which is a new addition - especially first season when you're only just introducing new tactic and everyone has to learn it.

Also hearing a lot that this year the game is slightly harder. We'll see how that stands up once a few more things are figured out.

But in this case anything below "full green" or any green?

What i have noticed after 20 games as MU - main issue is lack of posesion , even in game i am winning i have less posesion as other team 40/45% me - to 60/65% (openent).
And when i am losing it is 30/35% ?me) vs 70-65% oponent.

I am using your trening schedule but i am not giving rest as i should probably.

Anything below full green - no gym or patchwork

I am testing a last tactic before starting my career, a 4231.

@ZaZ Hope u mate do not worry about bad results till now , u are doing great job anyway as always.
I will post my results after i will end seson with MU.
Trening looks good for me , players are adapting to it after few months and they are getting 8-9+ score.

I do not mind bad results, that is what beta is for. Everyone is still scanning for what works and what does not. That being said, 50% of your bad results are probably because MU is cursed.

Probably u are right mate :D

Normally the meta is playing narrow and overloading the box, but in this game my players just get in each other's way and I can't score—plus CBs seem heavily buffed this year. Defending deep and hitting on the counter opens up great space in behind, yet it makes you leak way too many goals.

What do you think about set pieces? It seems to me that I dont score enough goals from the set pieces I get, I will check it

Hello, could you please share this 4231 tactic? It's the perfect formation for my players, and I am still looking for a good one.

@ZaZ I played the first few months of a season over and over (starting a new game each time) with Juventus, and results have been ranging from poor to completely abysmal, using a very normal 4231 tactic that turns into a 4420 out of posession.

Something that I see nobody talking about is the manager reputation:

I STRONGLY think this would be super important in FM27 since if you start the game with a low reputation (let's say your manager only played in the lower leagues, like I want to do to make the game more realistic as if it's ME becoming a manager) the team will struggle to back you (which is already a problem, but that's always bene the case) but this will ALSO impact your tactic understanding, making the tactic MUCH worse since one of the main components of tactic understanding is "player buy-in".

In the past even while using a low rep manager I always managed to win league titles with basically every team on the first try, but this year it feels straight up impossible

I will first say thanks to you ZaZ for the different tactics and trainigs schedules you have made for the community. Autumn in FM26 was awesome - won the FA Cup with low league teams and made it to Europe - also made it to Europe from lower leagues in different countries around in Europe!! :D

I am testing different things now in FM27 and will come back if i find something out. I have teste a "basic" 442 so far - and it is doing well (Most wins, some draws and zero loss so far - pre season and first 6 months), and now testing a "basic" 4231 - just 3 months into the season.

Training I do mostly Conditioning and Individual development.

I am starting my career in the game with zero reputation and only a National C license, so it will be fun to see.

Is there a test league with standardized teams available for download for FM 27?

Which team are you using? Because obviously low rep matters if you manage a big club/top league. Also do you happen to know what reputation is used in the official FMarena testing database?

I am playing Aldershot at National League. I have no clue what reputation they use.
