I have finished my second season at Benfica using this tactic and would like to share my results.
In general terms, there's no question this is a a very powerful base upon which to be successful playing FM23. That being said, the reasoning behind moving the IWs into the midfielder strata was to make the team more compact, defensively solid, even if that would mean sacrificing a bit the attacking effectiveness of the system. Your mileage may vary, but I was not very successful at that. Case in point, the two PSG matches I have played in the quarter finals of the Champions League:
I feel that some of this inconsistency can be explained by my team being very young (average age of 24) and lots of morale drops from players wanting new contracts / wanting to leave and I being intransigent wanting them to stay and saying no to their demands. There's a natural itch to change things up to optimize instructions or positioning but I will resist the urge for this season. After all, the more they play together, the better it'll get, right?
PS: I know everyone uses Schjelderup in this FM but in my defence he did go to Benfica in real life this transfer window.
PPS: My best striker, Goncalo Ramos, was out for 5 months with a broken leg and he was definitely missed during the second half of the season.

I have been using "424 Extreme Volts IV" to great success but this tactic here, "41122 Hall of Fame", has the tactical shape I tend to prefer. However, I have noticed that -judging by the general performance statistics - it seems to perform significantly worse in terms of goals conceded.
Have you tested, or do you think there's any chance that bringing the IFs to the midfielders strata and turning them into IWs on Attack would make the team more defensively solid without hampering the attacking prowess too much?
