The pentagon (portrayed by the 2 BBMs, 2 IWs, and AM) offers a solid 4-4-1-1 that offers overloads in the attack while having a deeper rigid 4-5-1 out of possession to balance goalscoring and defending capabilities.
BGK: Default 2 BCBS: Tackle Harder 2 WBs: Sit Narrower, Cross from Byline, Tackle Harder 2 BBMs: Move into Channels, Shoot Less Often, Tackle Harder 2 IWs: Stay Wider, Make More Runs, Tackle Harder AM: Move into Channels, Make More Runs, Tackle Harder CHF: Tackle Harder
This test was done by going on holiday till the end of the season delegating everything to staff + ticked "Make unfit first team players available for u21 matches" in order to maintain match sharpness to the squad.
This is a perfect 4321 that does really well in creating vertical overloads while remaining a strong defensive shape with the DM dropping in between both CBs and the AMs covering the flanks while the CHF drops into midfield.
Test Results: Arsenal - Won the EPL + UCL Burnley - Qualified for Europe (predicted 20th) and a FA Cup win
Arsenal
Burnley
Player Instructions for both IP and OOP shapes:
BGK - Default Both BCBs - Tackle Harder Both WBs - Sit Narrower, Cross from Byline, Take More Risks, Tackle Harder DM - Shoot Less Often, Tackle Harder Both CHMs - Shoot Less Often, Tackle Harder Both AMs - Move into Channels, Make More Runs, Tackle Harder CHF - Tackle Harder
Advice: Make sure to recruit CMs that offer great balance in defence and attack, look for fullbacks who offer a bit of attacking quality (dribbling and crossing) and make sure to monitor squad fitness + morale which can influence your tactic's performance. Disclaimer: This test was done by going on holiday delegating everything to staff EXCEPT Set Pieces and OIs. Also i ticked " make first team players available for u21 matches" so that match sharpness could remain consistent throughout the season.
This is a adaptation of Fabian Hurzeler's shape he uses at Brighton during the 2025-26 season. Primarily on the ACB (Van Hecke Role) Stepping up while the two CHMs step up to create overloads in the attack.

3-4-3 Brilliant Volante's tested with Brighton who were expected top half finish in the Premier League but massively overachieved winning the league with 91 points also making a deep run in the FA Cup. Match Engine: 24.2.0 Vanilla Version
Tips i recommend you with this tactic: 1 - Make sure to managed the fatigue and match condition of the squad, i used the automatic training intensity "No pitch or gym work - No pitch or gym work - No pitch or gym - Half intensity - Normal intensity." and it helped not having the notorious mid-season slump which is a RNG-fest to be honest. 2 - Coaching and medical staff makes a huge difference in terms of development of your young players, and also the medical staff like physio and sport scientists will help with providing proper advice when talking about player fatigue and match conditions. 3 - In terms of squad advice i recommend signing good progressive center backs and having good depth in that position. Also, the wing backs play a huge factor in providing width and overlaps to cross and dribble to cause trouble to the opposition. Inside forwards i always use the preferred foots in the opposite side so they can cut inside so the wing-backs can have the ability to overlap without risking the wingers cutting inside with their weak foot which may be slightly efficient in-game but something i focus on. 4 - Don't expect to win every game, keep on recruiting and improving your squad throughout your save but also don't forget on improving the staff in the first team, reserves, and youth squads. 5 - Morale is extremely important in consistently performing and getting 3 points week in week out, however, i always recommend siging players with personalities with high professionalism, determination, and consistency to have players with the ability to handle team talks and discussion with ease.

Tips to get results like this: I made sure to set up my coaching and medical staff. Also the automatic training intensity i set it to "No Pitch or Gym Work - No Pitch or Gym Work - No Pitch or Gym Work - No Pitch or Gym - Normal Intensity" which helped this team be consistent throughout the season without risking fatigue and injuries.
I read a help forum saying this guy "Clash3r" wanted people to try this Kompany 4231 tactic, so I did and this is the result it got with FC Bayern in the Bundesliga. Enjoy <3

Simone Inzaghi has done an unbelievable job so far at Inter Milan winning a couple of Serie A titles, Italian Cups, & Italian Supercup. Today, I have a 3-5-2 tactic that performed well inside the match engine and was a solid tactic.

I seem to have found an issue using the FMRTE in terms of saving the freezing of all the players in the save game. Usually, after you change a number or attribute inside the editor, you will see an "Items Saved" after clicking the save icon. However, when I save the changes of freezing the players, It does not show any information that the changes were saved in the bottom left corner of the application.
The spreadsheet is locked where there are formulas for the correct operation of the results tables. I was counting on creating a bigger one where you can run a tactic up to 10 times, as well as creating a table with the best tactic from the ones you tested in the test league but due to workload in my life I neglected it. What you could do is continue testing your tactic and in the boxes below and then take the two final scores and average them. This also applies if you choose to run more than 6 times your tactics.
I hope I have answered your question. Be well! Expand
Thank you so much, your testing really has motivated me to come back to FM24 and make tactics <3
I am currently using your spreadsheet and testing league and it is going well so far since I have created 3 tactics that have gotten 60 points or more. All I wanted to ask is how you can copy and paste the data tables so I can have more, or should I duplicate the entire spreadsheet?
