Thank you, mate. I didnt create this tactic. CBP87 deserves all the credit for it.
alex said: Well that's really impresive pal, well done! What were the players stats? Who scored the most goals?

Thank your for your kind words. :)

Here are the stats. Kolo-Muani scored more goals than in any season before. It might help that I have probably the best RB in the game in Fredriksson who got 38 assists (28 in the Bundesliga) and he's not doing any set-pieces. As you can see Tel made the second most goals overall but he's my AML-Backup (and hates it lol). But he got also some playing time as my Striker-Backup when my Striker-Backup was hurt.
Okay, so I have just finished the Bundesliga-Season with Bayern, in which I changed from v3.1 to this version in the winter break because of the FM-Update. Because it happened in the winterbreak I can easily compare each halfs of the season..

V3.1, first leg of the season

v3.0, second leg of the season

Note to add for consideration: During the second leg I had to deal with up to 8 or 9 (i dont remember) unhappy players for one reason or the other. The team had to slightly adjust to the new mentality of the tactic and in the Bundesliga my backups started more games than in the first leg, because I rested my starters before and between CL games.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I also had slightly more injuries in the second leg, which had nothing to do with the tactic, I literally had almost none in the first leg, which was one of the reasons for the amount of unhappy players lol

One effect I noticed is, that it feels like the striker is more dangerous, especially compared to the AMC. Using v3.1 one year my starting AMC (Florian Wirtz) literally won the golden boot of the Bundesliga and Europe, scoring significantly more goals than my starting Striker. But its just a feeling..
YUSH4N said: I think we are too, its friday then!

I just finished the season, as I said before, I caught the team in the middle/end of the season and I made a point of starting a save with them in bad shape (they had lost the last 5 games). After a few games I noticed that I was losing a lot of goals and taking a lot of goals too so I changed my mentality from positive to balanced (I changed after the game against Werder Bremen) I still ended up conceding a goal from Bayern, the ball hit the post during a foul and went back to Muller lol. With a balanced mentality and lowering the tempo, it seems to be working very well. I still managed to qualify for the Europa League.

(i was in 12 position when started the save)

Congratulations my friend. Leading Stuttgart from 12 to EL in that few games is quite impressive. I noticed, that you're probably scoring good from corners (or set pieces in general), right? I recognized a certain one legged french Giant scoring a bunch of goals, that must have come from Corners :D I'm a BVB-Fan for more than 30 years irl (and yes, I'm doing a Bayern-Save. As a CM/FM-Veteran I dont care about these matters haha) and loved Dan when he was with us. In former FMs when I had him in my team he was a goal-scoring machine from corners as well, always becoming one of my starting CDs. I also love how literally every other player looks small and skinny next to him irl.
This post might be a bit premature, but since its friday and if someone like me, who loved how the Katana V3.1 worked for you and now you dont dare to continue your savegame in fear of ruining your run, I advise you to go for V3 of the Katana, that CBP87 linked a few posts above. Here is the link again: https://fm-arena.com/thread/9024-katana-4231-100p-v3/

My sample-size is tiny so far (only 3 games, one of them was a friendly) but the dominance so far is the same, with a few changes, that I noticed and so far, these few changes are even for the better, which is hard to comprehend because of how dominant 3.1 already was.

These changes are:

One of the "weaknesses" of 3.1 was, that your team wasnt automatically the team with more ball posession, even if you smashed your opponent. My last game in the league before the update and therefore change to v3 was against a promoted team. We won 5-0 but had only 46% ball posession. Since the change to v3 I had two league games against better teams than the promoted one. One at home and one away. We won 5-2 (opponent had 2 penalties *shrug* lol) and 5-0 and both times above 60 % ball posession.

The goal distribution (i hope its the right word) changed. Before I had 85 to 90 % goals from inside or very close to the six-yard-box, because the FBs would cross from the line right into the box that it became almost ridiculous how many players (mine and opponents defenders and gk) would hang inside the box lol So far I've scored way more different goals, arguably even more beautiful goals, but thats subjective. Also I wanna say, that more different players scored but the sample size is way too small to really say anything about that. Its already tiny to say the stuff that I have said. But I wanted to get the word out quickly, because its friday evening and it would be a shame if someone stopped playing because he had no promising solution for the update yet. :)

I can only recommend trying V3 because so far it looks like the perfect answer if you loved v3.1 and want to continue your dominant run without changing your tactic majorly in the middle of the season. Have a fun weekend guys <3
CBP87 said: From my testing mate, this is proving to be better than v3.1, tested 5 times, 107pts, 105pts x 2 and 103pts x 2, 20+ cup wins too

OMG. Better? My mind cannot even compute how anything could work better than 3.1 hahaha Like, I showed you my winning percentage and goal statistics, how is it even possible to go up from there.. Now I'm even more excited to test V3 moving forward! :)

Edit: So far and its very early in my continued Bayern-Save, it looks like you're right, so much even that I wrote a raving review for V3 in the V3.1 thread. Hope thats alright. Cant thank you enough for making me aware of this version though. I'll keep you updated. <3
After looking at the test results of Grass Fury with the new update, I will try this version of Katana right now, because I hadnt updated yesterday when I stopped playing my Bayern save in FM. Perfect Time btw. I'm in the Winter break. lol

The truth is I don't remember for sure but there are games where we have 2-3 bar hits and as many offsides or even a disallowed goal. Such games usually don't end with a very good result...

Not to be misunderstood, I'm very happy with this tactic. I won the championship, I'm in the cup final and the semi-finals of the UEL!

I asked for the number of bar hits and disallowed goals because those will influence the ratings of your players negatively (although I think they shouldnt, unless its a missed penalty) so take that in mind when you worry about bad ratings with your players (I did the same at some point btw. that was when i realised that i should take that in consideration).
The Lone Wanderer said: Thought i would add a follow up after the first season.

This season we were top of the table from the very start (i imagine tactical familiarity and a good dressing room atmosphere from the previous success of last season helped this)

There was a point at the start of January where i thought it would all taper off and my team would struggle because of a few injuries and a lack of depth. This wasn't the case though. March was the worst month where players were tired from games coming thick and fast but even then we didn't lose much only picked up a few draws instead.

There were plenty of games where we won by 5 goals or more. Again am very impressed with this tactic and just thought i would show the continued success.

I was predicted to finish 19th.

That schedule sure was brutal with games every 3 days. If I may give an advice, I use for myself. I am not doing my team training, I let my assistant run that - if you do yours, thats fine, but I'm not sure how that would mix with the following tip.

Turn down the intensity of the players training. I use the rest option and when you look at the hearts (are these hearts?) that symbolize the condition of the player, only the most green train at only half intensity. Everyone else sits out and its automatated. This has helped me get through the most grueling schedules. I know you might think "but will my players develop?!" but dont forget, only U18 players really develop by training. Everyone else needs games. And my proposal gives them more chances to play more games.
gekan said: @CBP87 thanks for your answer!

Well, if 6.5 is average maybe I was a little harsh on my players. Most players in these situations are between 6.5 and 6.7. Almost everyone is very familiar with their role, with maybe one exception in a game. I'll look at the situation in a different light based on what you wrote.

My players, with 3-4 exceptions, are not very good. We are a poor team and really our level is about somewhere in the middle of the standings. So I'm going to see who's making all the missed shots and I'm going to add the PI you proposed.

Thanks again. :)

Did you team hit the post or bar alot in these games maybe? Or did you have many offside-situations. These go into the rating as well (although I dont think they should.)
CBP87 said: Yeah its crazy, I've been playing since CM 08/09 but really fell in love with the game when playing 01/02. It's had its claws in me ever since haha. What sort of player are you searching for? Sounds like you don't need to change much in terms of players, Were you the better team in the final?

We were the slightly better team over the 120 minutes, if i remember correctly. My frustrations in the transfer summer were more rooted that I put myself into a situation where I couldnt really bring anyone in reasonably because I had already signed John Stones, Franck Kessie and Sergey Milinkovic-Savic for free for the summer. I had planned to pull Kimmich from DMC back to DR (for the first time really in that save) kinda saying "Alright Kimmich, you had all the time and chances to play DMC but we never achieved the ultimate goal, you have to go with what I want now". That coincided with Kimmich wanting to explore his options but I refused to sell him because of that (and to throw my plans away). Also I was worried that I wouldnt meet CL-Registration-Rules in full because that Summer meant the end of Neuer, Müller and Gündogan (who left to Saudi after I got him for little money from Barcelona 2 years before, making him the Goretzka-Replacement who left to Saudi that summer). And I loved my backups. That all together rendered me kinda in a state of I dont know what to do.

GK: Diogo Costa / Atubolu (great Backup and helps with CL-Registration, I usually try to have my backup-GK help with that)
DR: Joshua Kimmich / Stanisic (can play all 4 positions in the Defense and helps with CL-Registration)
DL: Alphonso Davies / Dedic (can play DR and DL)
DCR: Mathijs de Ligt / Stones
DCL: Min-Jae Kim / Upamecano
DMR: Sergey Milinkovic-Savic / Martel (Helps with CL-Registration)
DML: Franck Kessie / Schlager
AMR: Leroy Sane / Wanner (developed great through loans and helps with CL-Registration)
AML: Jamal Musiala / Mathys Tel (developed great and helps with CL-Registration)
AMC: Florian Wirtz / Ouedraogo (amazing talent and helps with CL-Registration)
STR: Randal Kolo-Muani / Gimenez (the only backup I'm not in love with but I had brought him in the year earlier and didnt wanna get rid of him yet)

I also have Malcom (lost his Backup spot to Wanner), Noah Okafor (3rd Striker), Bryan Zaragoza, Ousmane Diomande (who I will loan out because he deserves better) and Luca Netz who are my backups to backups. Everyone but Netz was registered for the CL (thank god). Zaragoza and maybe Malcom will leave in the winter if we get interesting enough offers and if they want to leave.

I also have to admit that I just turned off OIs again because I felt like especially my best players (Wirtz, Musiala and Sane) were very inconsistent in ratings. I mean we are still smashing the league but I thuoght their inconsistency might have to do with OIs because they some game have to do more and in others not. Could be that its also me struggling with how to praise players without them sucking immediately after I praised them hahaha :D Been struggling with that for years.
CBP87 said: Sounds like you achieved some fantastic results, appreciate the postive feedback, what OIs did you use for your Bayern save?

Wait, I meant that I let my Assistant with the best stats in both tactical attributes do the OIs. Am I meaning something else than you? If so, sorry. I'm german and play in german so I thought thats what meant hahaha :D

btw and it has nothing to do with the tactic, but I need to get it off my chest. I'm playing FM/CM for more than 20 years now. Yesterday, when I wrote my post I was on a high because I was finishing my season and won the double for the 3rd time in 3 years and all was fun, then I lost the CL finale against PSG in penalties (god damn) and right now I'm having a very unsatisfying summer transfer window and am totally down. Isnt it crazy that this game still does this with us?
I just registered here to give my feedback on this tactic. I got FM24 in January after skipping FM23, so I looked for a good looking tactic that is in a "classic formation". I found this and used it for my first savegame in FM24 with Chelsea and although they have an expensive but very weird squad at the start and me starting with realistic I saw all them players come and go and had no chance in doing anything about it. I went invincible with Chelsea in the first year with a weird squad and won the league.

Second season I did some changes but didnt feel great about the team I got together (I had trouble finding my way into the new way of how transfers and negotiations work) I won the PL and CL, FA and CC in my second season. I think I did two more seasons with them and won the league each time, FA Cup each time, and went to the CL finale at least one more time.

I am writing all of this only to show how great it works. Thanks mate for making this tactic and sharing it.

Edit: Just because I just read your last post and "smashing every league" is the most fitting way to phrase my experience with it.

Btw. I use OIs because in my Bayern Save that I'm currently in, I absolutely smashed the league but had troubles in the CL. In my Chelsea safe I had used OIs and had non of the troubles and since I started using OIs with Bayern I had less trouble.
