I'm sorry I didn't notice your post earlier. I used to play with the Miracle1 tactics, but I found that they lacked a player who could transition the ball from defense to attack through the middle, rather than relying only on the fullbacks. I needed someone to dictate the midfield, so I converted one DM into a Regista, and that worked perfectly for all my teams during my Pentagon challenge.
At first, I tried a Deep-Lying Playmaker on defense and later on support, which was already an improvement, although still a big gap between DM and AM. Then I switched to a Roaming Playmaker, which helped a lot. However, I still missed some extra attacking force. I dominated games, but my striker didn’t score many goals and also his Xg was way lower than AM and the wingers, so I needed an additional attacking midfielder. Before that, I was curious to see what a Regista would bring to the team, because I believe it is the most attacking role in defensive midfield. The Miracle1 tactics already gave me good results so I would like to stick to two players in DM, but I needed more goals to challenge the top clubs in the league by getting a higher Xg than them.
With a Regista, you immediately see a higher xG in each match compared to a Roaming Playmaker. They also score some goals with long shots. It’s difficult to find a good Regista, but if you have a player who rates higher as a Regista than as a Defensive Midfielder, use the Regista role! Especially if your other DM is strong enough to handle the defensive duties alone (good DMs are much easier to find).
The tactics you posted are almost the same as mine with a Regista (though I don’t use the extra instructions you added for the role), and they gave me more points in the league. Expect your AM and wingers to be your top scorers! I love the tactics and hope they work in FM26 just as well as they did in FM24. The Regista in my team is the best player of the team! and my reserve Regista is my DM next to him in big matches. Now I really love that role.
Well, it's a great tactic. With 4 games to go, I'm still leading the league with a team that was expected to finish 12th at the beginning of the season. The gameplay is also enjoyable, with lots of attacks and opportunities. Maybe I should test both approaches in my 'tactic test league'. But overall, your tactic is great! Thanks.
Normally, I use my own tactics, but somehow in FM24, my tactics aren't working anymore. So, I was looking for something else. I like this one, so let's see if I can make it more my own. It feels better if I can improve it to my liking.
Well, interesting for sure. I have two questions that I would like to ask you, if I may.
1) I see that you take the values for free kicks, corners, penalties, and long throws into your calculation. Why is that? I mean, if a player is not good at set pieces, it doesn't mean he could not be a world-class defender, midfielder, or striker, right? Even for goalkeepers, you include these values in your calculations. There is no way you're going to let your goalkeeper take your set pieces... I hope, at least.
2) Do I understand correctly that you're trying to rebuild the CA calculation of FM itself or trying to get as close as possible to the game’s calculation? Can I ask why you are doing that (no offense here I tried the same)? Is it because you want to compare the outcome of your calculation with the actual CA of the game, to see if the calculation is correct?
Because FM uses a little 'trick' to calculate the CA and PA of players in the game. I've also heard about the 500, but that is not 100% accurate, I believe (especially when players can play in more than one position). By trying to recreate the game's calculation (if that is what you're trying), I believe you're making it harder to calculate the correct score, and the chance of making a mistake is increased too.
Note that the game also gives a higher score to players who can play in more than one position. So a player who can only play as a striker will have a lower CA than an other player with the exact same values of attributes who can also play as an attacking midfielder and winger. Because of this, I stopped trying to calculate a CA based on the way the game does. It wouldn't make any sense in my point of view and therefore, I took a different approach.
If you are not trying to recalculate the game method but want something similar, you should check out "Evidence Based Football Manager" on YouTube (perhaps you already did). He tried to rebuild the game's calculation. Perhaps you will find something of interest that you can use in your method. The video title is "Relationship between Attributes and CA in Football Manager." Also, the pre-game editor will show you the weighting per attribute for the CA calculation. It might be interesting to compare your weighting to it and analyze the differences.
Hopes this helps you a bit in your player rating method.

I've used these tactics in my IF Brommapojkarna save. I'm just in my first season, and I'm leading the league after 20 games, 4 points ahead of Elfsborg. I losses 2 matches and 2 times a draw. My expected league finish was 12th, the board expected mid-table for me.
The tactics works great, but I've noticed that I miss a lot of chances with high xG. While these tactics create a lot of opportunities, my players misses (too) many of them. It could be due to my strikers/forwards or the way these tactics work. I'm still analyzing this.
When I joined the team, I noticed that the finishing ability wasn't very high, so I brought in Bart Ogbeche, Fredy Montero, and Cristian Chávez (fortunately, these were offered to me) to add goalscoring prowess to the team. I know I need to replace them with younger players in the near future, but I don't have the money at the moment. This works now we score a lot of goals during matches but still misses a lot! We dominated most of the games create a lot of opportunities. This could be an FM24 thing but could also be the tactics. not sure at the moment.
edit: Looking at the xG table I shouldn't be worried about my finishing I guess. score higher that expected. Looking at the shot map I see we created a lot of small oppertunities (with low xG). So perhaps I should add "Work ball into box" or just let it be this way as I score an average of 3 goals a match this season.
Many, many thanks, Dzek, for all the work you've done to create a testing league! I was thinking of building a testing league by myself, but I encountered many challenges and issues. Finally, I found this site and your post, which saved me a lot of work and frustration. Again, I deeply appreciate your effort. Thanks.
Also, thanks for the "little" gift (Excel files). Three years ago, I made one myself based on all the roles available in FM and still using it with great succes. Unfortunately, that Excel file is over 100 MB, and therefore it runs a bit slow on my computer when FM is running as well. Your file gave me an idea to reduce the size of my file while still focusing on roles instead of positions only. So again, thanks for the push in the right direction.
It depends on your type of players, specific...players with a high attribute called 'Dirtiness' causes this. Many FM players think that a high Aggression leads to many yellow and red cards, but that's not correct. Jayhuahua on YouTube once conducted an experiment (with FM23) with players who have 20 aggression and 1 dirtiness, and players with 1 aggression and 20 dirtiness. 20 aggression almost never resulted in a yellow card in a season, while 20 dirtiness resulted in almost one card per match. Search on YouTube for 'Is Aggression Good or Bad? Football Manager 2023 Experiment.' to see his experiment.
'Dirtiness' is a hidden attribute you can’t find that in the attributes (unless your using the ingame editor of Genie scout) but you can reveal it with scouting reports and coach reports.
These are the things you can do (in the short and long term) to prevent getting too many cards:
Short term: • If you're playing against a weaker team, remove the 'Get stuck in' option from your tactics. Note that you can also assign this option individually to players within your tactics so don’t forget those. • If you're leading by 2 goals during the match, remove the 'Get stuck in' option. Scoring more goals is unnecessary at that point; focus on finishing the match (unless you need to work on goal difference for promotion or similar reasons). • Ensure that, in addition to your main tactic, you have a secondary tactic that concedes less goals and doesn't include 'Get stuck in.' Choose one with the same formation or one that your current starting eleven can easily adapt to without substitutions.
Longer term: • Always scout a player before buying them. 'Dirtiness' is a hidden attribute, so you won't see it at first glance. When considering signing players, if you read something like 'a competitive streak' in a scouting report, you'll know that they have a high 'Dirtiness' rating. • Also, check a player's stats before signing them. If they consistently receive many cards in a season, you'll know their 'Dirtiness' is high. You can also assess the ratio of yellow cards to fouls committed. If this ratio is high, their 'Dirtiness' is also high. • Look at your own players' coach reports. If it mentions 'a competitive streak,' that's a sign to be cautious. Make sure you don't have too many players like that in your team! • If you have a youth player with many yellow cards or 'a competitive streak' in the coach report, ensure they have a mentor with a good personality. Don't loan them out; keep them within your team and try to reduce their 'Dirtiness.' • Ensure that your head of youth development doesn't have a high 'Dirtiness' attribute, as they will pass this on to new youth players. The personality of the head of youth development also determines the types of personalities that come from the youth academy.
I don't know what decisions does to yellow and red cards despite the dirtiness rating. maybe something to test. Decisions could be involved in this higher decisions perhaps mean less dumb tackles that causes a booking. but I haven't seen any testing results on the web about that. maybe something to test when I'm on summer holiday and have more time.
hopes this helps a bit for you and perhaps others.
