I haven't been able to be active, so sorry for the late reply. When you get a red card you should just remove the complete forward. If you remove anything else the tactic becomes unbalanced. For sitting the game out I usually just lower the tempo, up the time wasting and change mentality to defensive, cautious or balanced.
