Target Person
Nice rating for a strikerless tactic nonetheless! I don't have the players for this atm but will give it a go at some point. Would be interesting to know how the movement and performances of the SS compare to AF of the original tactic (i.e. more goals? More chances from through balls?).

Good job Dino for the tweak and @Zealot for the original tactic.
Good to see strikerless formations on FM22! How many goals did the shadow striker score in your tests?
Interesting tweak with my beloved Target Forward role though it's the AF who really shines here :D . Zaz has nailed a very promising 4213 shape though the double attacking volante kinda makes me nervous :D
ZaZ said: I don't think corners are so absurd as people say. Before we had 100 goals a season with 20-25 goals from corner, now we have 140 with 30-35 goals from corner. The proportion seems about the same to me, it's just that teams are scoring more. I might be wrong, but it's just my feeling.

The problem imo is the very passive AI (with high possession in their defensive half) which 'forces' us to use very attacking mentality which leads to more shots and more corners and obviously more goals. Goals from corners are just a part of the issue and while the proportion might be same as FM 21 the higher number of corners together with the effective near post routine often leads to centre-back scoring 20+ goals in a season. Things get even worse against teams with very low reputation (see my CB's destroying our regional/state championship in Brazil). It's currently hard to develop other effective tactical approaches much different from these, which is why I'm not enjoying current ME.

ZaZ said: I think tactics are being held back by horrible defenses. We have the same attack power as last year, but defense is way leakier.

To be clear it wasn't a knock on tacticians here, you guys are doing a tremendous job working with what match engine gives you. Unfortunately ME and AI behaviour look very unbalanced at the moment so very attacking + high number of corners seems to be the most effective approach right now. Hopefully a big ME update will come at some point, though honestly I don't expect it to happen...
Honestly I feel like the near post corner kick routine is boosting most tactics this year. When I see my centre-back scoring nearly a goal per game I know it's not a great year for match engine...
4132 seems to be strongest formation atm, I like this one because of very attacking mentality and AF+F9 pair instead of double AF so will happily give it a go :D

I wanted to ask if it's fine to use a No.10/AMC type at CM, and if F9 requires more pace or passing/technique? Thanks!
57 goals for a striker in Serie A is huge! Poor Gallo always a back-up for Immobile even at his club now :D
If I had to accomodate a technical No.10 AMC type with average speed (12/13 pace/acceleration) would you suggest playing him at IW or AF? Or just sell him to buy quicker players?

Thanks
@pixar 31 goals for DC :D Might as well swap DCR with a tall striker on attacking corners, to further boost his tally! Haaland should break 100 goals barrier this way ;)
Always fun to use a Target Forward :D
Good to see a deep 4231 working well. What type of striker would you suggest? Obviously my preference would be for big Target Forwards type ;)
Kyle said: If the match engine follows the same thing as last year, which it does seem so, the taller and heavier a player is in each position is only a positive. Taller is always better than smaller, heavier is always better than lighter, faster is always better than slower. It doesn't matter whether the role highlights these, they'll perform better with them attributes higher.

Yeah, what I meant is compared to previous versions I'm finding more success with tall, relatively slow strikers (Pace & Acc. 10-12) scoring from headers, which for example weren't particularly effective in FM 21 where pacey SS/AF types were kings.

As for TF role it has specific ball magnet effect and traditionally tends to attract more long balls so was wondering if height/jumping reach had any noticeable impact on their performances in ZaZ's tests.
ZaZ said: My first suggestion for anyone doing tactics is to use TF-At, they seem to do better than any other role. I also tried most interesting combinations and none is better than two TF-At. I have yet to try three strikers or one striker, but I don't think it will be much different.

Thanks @ZaZ for all the testing and feedback!

As a fan of target man role I'm encouraged by your findings, have you tried a TF-Su + TF-At combo? Personally I've had decent success with various striker roles as long as the strikers were tall and good in the air - lots of goals from headers.

Would you suggest using big, tall strikers as TF-At or any type of striker should do?

Thanks
