Cruising through the leagues from Vanarama National League to the Premier League with Gateshead in just 4 seasons. Halfway through the second season in PL we're sitting at the top of the league, with a team that mostly would belong in the U21's of our rivals.
This underdog tactic combines a tight defence (at least until we reached the Premier League) with lots of goals (striker scoring between 37 to 62 goals a season, in all competitions). The tactic depends on overloading the left side of the pitch, making room for the mezzala and attacking wing back on the right.
A 3-5-2 with high possesion and scoring goals for fun while having a solid defence.
Tried the tactic with Gateshead, earning three promotions in three seasons before testing the tactic with North Ferriby in Northern Counties East League Division One. Won the league with 118 points, a 129 goal difference and xG on 123.23.
Won both cups I participated in, winning the finals 8-1 and 6-1.
Main goal scorer finding the back of the net 82 times in 55 games, without taking the penalties.
Needed a big player in the middle of my back three (important!!), and went with the first I found - a one-star potential superstar with an average of 8.30 in 55 games.
