Still trying to get a 4222 going. Trying to improve the defense with CD and FB. All other roles stay wider, and run outside with the ball.

Just a bit of fun. I wanted to see if when moving a defender to an attacker, would the extra goals offset the terrible defense?

High scoring games, for both teams!
Spoiler
Yeah, I can't quite get 4222 going well enough.

Trying another sans AML/AMR, focusing on defense, SS to link the midfield, AF's stay wider.
Spoiler
Just a few attempts at seeing if AML/AMRs are required for a tactic, and if any such tactic can get > 50. Also curious as to what high xG, high xGa vs low xG, low xGa will look like in the results.

The first one is using balanced, mostly meta, with CMs. It's fairly low scoring, but tight in defense.

This second one is attacking with underlaps, using SSs. It's unstable in the back, and high scoring.

I can't tell the difference between all of these, so this might be the last trial for 3 midfieldiers.
4321 The Line 3CM, back to very basics with CM on support and attack.
Spoiler
Just trying to get another data point on how local testing correlates with fm-arena testing. All wingers that cut inside, looking for overlaps. Underlaps did worse in testing, so we'll stick with the known meta.

Just wanted to give a big shout out to all of you who contribute here. I love looking over your tactics, and I applaud your dedicated experimentation and scientific method :D

Keep pushing the envelope!
Shanky said: Hey,

This is probabbly the best tactic I've tried so far this FM.

I started using it halfway through my second season with Lyon and won the league easily and going into the UCL semis (lost to Liverpool on pens).

I tried a lot of tactics this year and honestly with Lyon I never felt so strong even against big teams.

Good job !

That's great to hear, Shanky! I mostly do zero to hero saves from the lowest English league, so I'm happy to know that you're finding it useful as an underdog. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Thanks!

Edit: There are some great tactics on this forum. As I mentioned, I based this on many others. Pretty sure I outright stole the set pieces from one of them, as I have no idea how to test set pieces :D
As a bonus, I've also uploaded a tweak of Soft&Wet by MemorizableUsername, which switches the 2 DMs to CMs, and a striker to CM. I think it'll be an interesting comparison with the 4321 uploaded above, specifically on the general tactic (balanced vs positive?) and a few PIs unique to Soft&Wet.

It seemed less stable, but that's what more extensive testing is for.

Soft&Wet 3CM tweak

Strikers are expensive, so our goals aren't extensive, but our midfield is cheaper, than anyone deeper.

Taking the 4231 Deep Shadow, I wanted to have an easier time of team management, ie. wanting to see if I could switch to pure CMs and ditch the DMs, making substitutions easier. As a bonus, CMs are easier to find, and generally cheaper.

All 3 variations are based on the CAR, and while I tried various other midfield options, CAR seemed to work best. Since I can't actually tell if the variations are making a difference, I've uploaded them for testing.

All 3 were tested on Atalanta in Serie A, as homage to MemorizableUsername mentioning that it was a more fun league to test on.

4321 The Line - shoot more. Removal of shoot less often from several positions.

4321 The Line - stay wider. Stay wider on IF.

Hi all,

First time uploading at tactic. The tactical style is based on the testing that's been done intensively by many others, most recently the focus play testing by Delicious.

As I play mostly in the lower leagues, I wanted a stabler version of 4231 using a very aggressive CM instead of AMC(Shadow striker) and opted for double Volantes to the back line higher and wider, taking advantage of the focus left and right play. Late goals from the CM are a thing of beauty.

If you're in the lower leagues, or underdog, give this a shot!
