@Zippo will this one be tested for 14k also? Cause it would be great to see the true difference between this one and 424 Classic v28 but that scored 68.3 with 9.6k and 67.7 with 14k, so with just the 9k test on this one it’s difficult to compare them e.e

Agreed, should be the same number of tests for all of the strong tactics

I second this. I requested previously that we maybe have the scores shown at each stage of testing. For example, score after 4800 matches, then 9600 etc... I think this would help us compare how a tactic has performed against a tactic of the same shape, but I also think that if a shape has had a certain number of matches tested then if this tactic is beaten then the tactic that has beaten it also has to have the same number of tested matches, I think it's more fair to do it this way. As @Gianaa9 said his tactic achieved 68.3 after 9600 matches which would still be top but was tested for a further 4800 matches and dropped to 67.7. Technically he still has the highest rated tactic over 9600 matches but that's not showing.
14k test is definitely needed, however it can be expected to drop below v28
Not much of a drop off, very consistent well done @Gerrard
incredible performance
Any tips to protecting a 1-0 lead or chasing a 1-goal deficit @Gerrard ?
I use 2 HBs
I usually don't change, but can try my highest scoring tactic MAD AS A HATTER 4132

Have you considered testing it on fm-arena?

Do you have the right players for the tactics? The tactic was tested for 14400 matches and scored the best overall which would indicate the consistency of this tactic is very very good. I would suggest probably training your players in the roles required for the tactic and also picking your fastest players. Ensure your right IF is left footed and your left IF is right footed as these will be cutting in. I've found in the past when I have a put a right footed player on the right or left footed on the left that once they have cut in they tend to move the ball back to their strongest foot and essentially done the opposition of the role. Concentrate on acceleration and pace when selecting your team, this is crucial

I think it's the "narrow" width.
I was using the early versions of the 424 Classic (by Gianaa9) a month ago, and it was working well.
For some reason, these guys tested the tactic with narrow width and it apparently fared better -- but that's not the case when you're playing.
I used the newer narrow versions with the same squad and it struggled to create or score, especially when you're facing AI teams with 3 at the back (Serie A has lots).
When I switched to Katana or GrassFury or BoxLevante, I started winning again immediately. Then I tried the narrow 424 again, it slumped once more (even on a positive mentality)
BUT... when I went back to old "fairly wide" 424 classic, results were a bit better.
Hence my deduction.
Folllowing my earlier post, I just saw that the tactic is tested against only ONE team with 3 at the back (re: Test 1 to Test 36 results).
Maybe the narrow works when you're not playing a team that's packing the middle and pushing you outside.
I dunno... I'm still figuring it all out.

I'm thinking exactly the same thing.
It doesn't make sense to have the "narrow" instruction enabled because considering the other instructions that try to penetrate the defense with through/vertical passes then this instruction doesn't help much. I can say that this instruction, although it's in the category of "In Possession" and "Attacking Width" but is more helpful and encourages "Out of Possession" and "Invite Crosses" which actually affects the defensive width of your team.
My personal opinion and view, to achieve the "perfect" system your team needs to defend very tightly and attack very widely.
Good job @Gerrard.
Spurs test with normal width, Overall slightly worse than narrow
Gerrard said: Spurs test with normal width, Overall slightly worse than narrow
The difference in comparing the two is the -3 points in the league? If so then there is no reason to use the "narrow" instruction in the long term but only in individual cases which need more testing to decide which these cases are.
Also I can see that with “normal” width, you have won Carabao Cup too but with “narrow” you didn't.
I use a score to take account of Cups and GD.

Are these the only player with instruction ?
Or do both cdm full back and defenders have the same instructions
Does it still work at the same level for the 24.4 update?
archil said: Does it still work at the same level for the 24.4 update?
Yes, because there aren't any M.E.(Match Engine) changes in 24.4 patch

The tactic was very inconsistent for me (15 years plus experience on FM so no noob) I moved the width to fairly wide and results instantly improved.
Though i am aware that the players you have will impact results but the above worked massively for me.
I would love to see how this tactic scores with `fairly wide` selected.
It is also an honour to be in the same group chat as Knap himself
If you run a season on fairly wide then you can have tested.
This is a normal width version, tested better on Chelsea/Luton test
