What is the best training schedule in FM26?

by bawarczyk, Dec 1, 2025

Hello! What is the best training schedule in FM26? I used the ZaZ training schedule in FM24. Does it still work in FM26?

Training has not changed in FM26.  The tricks that work well in FM24 (such as all rest training, quickness individual training for all players, and double intensity for the top two heart ratings and rest for everything else) still work in FM26.

Personally I don’t bother with training since you can only train the first team and they will gain mostly by playing time.  Optimizing training was really useful for players from 15-18 when physicals could grow quickly but after that the player is either in the first team (with no role training and quickness individual trning) or loaned out so he continues to improve.  The most I will do for the overall training is make a full day of rest after a game or add a bonding if the ass man doesn’t.

You can set youth team training, it's been fixed.

Not saying my training is the best, but this is the one I use for one and two matches a week. It is important to set it to double in best condition, and no training when condition is not full, to avoid injuries.

I use the same for pre-season, just add one or two friendlies per week.

Do you also set the players' individual training to 'quickly'?

If you mean quickness, then yes.

with this set up is there still any need of using the one day training rest after each match to get bigger recovery ?

If you use my training schedule (which already has 3x rest after matches) and set automatic intensity the same way as the picture (double intensity when full condition, no pitch or gym work below that), it will do the super rest automatically.

Super rest is not exactly "needed", but there is no reason not to use it. It will prevent injuries and allow your players to perform better in matches.

What if we play an away match and one rest is replaced by a trip?

Rest only recovers condition if there are no other sessions in the same day, and any other session makes it useless (this includes Travel, Recovery, Team Bonding and Community Outreach). When that happens, I push super rest to the day after, and do some other training in the travel day.

hello @ZaZ
do i have to put this schedule every week manually?

or this schedule automatically applied in each week?

anyway
can you capture your Double Match Schedule?
and re upload?

Both schedules are in the picture, and also in the attachments.

About putting every week manually, unfortunately that is how it works in FM. I have complained about it for years, and instead of improving, they even removed the copy and paste button...

Hi @ZaZ do you train players in the roles (IP/OOP) they are playing in your chosen tactic?

I put them in a role from the position they will play, with highlighted attributes containing pace and acceleration. The role itself does not matter much, it is only used to define attribute gain in training.

@ZaZ do you know if your schedules/rest exploits in general are also viable for youth teams? Just wondering if it would be more beneficial to take control of U21 training to boost their growth as well

You should apply this to the youth team as well.

In short: matches are the real source of CA growth in FM, while training mainly affects conversion efficiency and allocation. Playing time, match ratings and competitive context generate CA; training does not create CA by itself. What training does is keep ratings high, reduce inefficiency, and steer where the gained CA is distributed.

That’s why setups heavy on Rest/Recovery can still work (as shown in community tests): they don’t block growth as long as players are playing matches and maintaining good training ratings, especially via Match Practice and focused individual training.

Physical attributes like Acceleration and Pace have high internal weight and strong diminishing returns: they are extremely efficient to raise when low, but very expensive near elite levels (around 16+), often slowing technical and mental growth. So the optimal approach is to prioritize physicals early, reach a competitive plateau, and then rebalance development rather than endlessly forcing them higher.

Training absolutely does generate CA because without it or with very few sessions the CA growth is significantly lower. You do not need many sessions per week to get quite close to the maximum though.

Acceleration and pace maintain their value all the way to 20, although it does seem to get a bit harder to reach the very last point or two. To really take advantage of it your players should have a significantly higher pace and acc than your opponents probably at least +2 or +3.

Edit: I've now read the longer post. Maybe we disagree on semantics of what "creating" CA is, because if a match generates CA but it's never used by training is it really generated? And on the other hand if it is used due to good training schedule, is the training therefore not responsible for the CA growth?
