Attributes vs Tactics - FM26

Hi,

I want to bring up a very import topic because from my experience, it's one of the most confusing areas for most people playing FM.

Let's take this tactic from our tactic testing - 4231 fwxm newveggie v2



With the default attributes of the players in the human controlled teams it got the following result in our tactic testing:

PTS 76 | GD +35 | GF 81 | GA 46
Winning 66% of possible points.





Now, let's REDUCE all the attributes of the players in the human controlled teams only just by "1(ONE) Point" and such action would mean that:

- the defenders in the human controlled teams have all their attributes worse just by 1 point than the defenders in the AI controlled teams.

- the midfielders in the human controlled teams have all their attributes worse just by 1 point than the midfielders in the AI controlled teams.

- the strikers in the human controlled teams have all their attributes worse just by 1 point than the strikers in the AI controlled teams.

And when we test the tactic with the 1 POINT DECREASED attributes we get the following result:

PTS 52 | GD +1 | GF 61 | GA 60
Winning 45% of possible points.




Ok, that was a huge drop in score about -24 points but this time let's INCREASE all the attributes of the players in the human controlled teams only just by "1(ONE) Point" and such action would mean that:

- the defenders in the human controlled teams have all their attributes better just by 1 point than the defenders in the AI controlled teams.

- the midfielders in the human controlled teams have all their attributes better just by 1 point than the midfielders in the AI controlled teams.

- the strikers in the human controlled teams have all their attributes better just by 1 point than the strikers in the AI controlled teams.

And when we test the tactic with the 1 POINT INCREASED attributes we get the following result:

PTS 93 | GD +66 | GF 100 | GA 34
Winning 82% of possible points.




As you can see making the attributes of your player only 1 point better than the attributes of your opponent's player boosted the result about 17 points, from 76 pts to 93 pts.

From the tests above we can conclude that if the attributes of your players are just 1 point worse than the attributes of your opponent's players then when playing against him and using this tactic 4231 fwxm newveggie v2 you can expect winning only about 45% of possible points.

BUT if the attributes of your players' are just 1 point better than the attributes of your opponent's players then when playing against him you can expect winning about 85% of possible point.

As you can see the difference in attributes make a huge impact on the result.

And only when the attributes flip from being 1 point worse to being 1 point better, you start winning 82% of possible points instead 45%. If we take 38 matches distance then it's a swing from 52 point to 93 points and I'd say it's freaking a lot.

I hope that after all that you understand if you struggle with your team in some league and you can't win the title because you only get only about 70-80 pts at the end of each season but it requires getting about 100 pts for wining the title then you understand that changing your tactic won't help in your situation, of course, assuming that you already play with one of high scoring tactics from our tactic testing, in your case you need to look for improving the attributes of your players because only that can boost your result by 20-30 points and win the title.
