This tactic is built around a simple idea: points should never be given away cheaply.
In possession, the team transforms into a 3-2-5. The WB and W provide width, the PW moves into the left half-space, the CHF attacks the central channel, and the BBM moves forward into the right half-space. Behind them, the DM and ACB form the first layer of protection, while the WCB, CB and IFB maintain the back three.
The 3-2 structure is not primarily used to dominate possession. Its main purpose is defensive security. When possession is lost, the DM and ACB delay the opponent rather than aggressively chasing the ball. This gives the attacking players time to recover. The WCB, IFB and recovering wide players then form the second delaying line before the team settles into a low 5-4-1 block.
Only the striker is asked to apply meaningful pressure high up the pitch. His job is not necessarily to win the ball, but to disrupt the opponent's first pass and buy time for the rest of the team to recover.
In attack, the aim is to progress quickly rather than keep possession for its own sake. I prefer attacks to finish within a relatively small number of passes whenever space is available. The WB and W are encouraged to reach the byline, with low crosses and cutbacks used to create higher-quality chances for the players occupying the five attacking lanes.
The objective is not to win every match. The objective is to make every point difficult for the opponent to earn.
