Machismo
From page One intro to tactic -

Against stronger teams, a good trick is to start the match with Cautious mentality, then change back to Positive or Very Attacking on the second half. It works because players from stronger teams crack down at half time when not winning, or get complacent when winning even by one goal. Then you can surprise them and snatch a win while their performance goes down. Against weaker teams, it's often better to just start with Very Attacking mentality. If you are also training Light Blue and Dark Blue, the change in mentality won't affect your tactical affinity.

ARE THE ABOVE MENTALS STILL THE APPROACH TO TAKE?

- Use Light Blue 3.0 when you have a comfortable lead. It's a tactic developed to concede less goals, receive less cards and save some energy, at the cost of less scoring opportunities.
- If your only objective is to concede less goals, then change the mentality of Blue 3.0 to cautious, so it doesn't decrease your chance of winning.
- Use Dark Blue 3.0 when you are desperate for goals. It's Blue 3.0 with very attacking mentality.

IS "DARK BLUE" BETTER THAN JUST CHANGING THE BLUE MENTALITY to VA?
"Some players feel general training is too low."

Is it that I need more/better coaches?  Or do I need to tweek Zazz in-season training schedule?  Or add some individual training?

Team is Olympic Marseilles.  March Season 2.
Can you guys name the best shadow striker/s so I can 'find similar players'.
ZaZ said: The default mentality is Positive. You can change to Cautious when you want to hold a score or to Very Attacking when trying to grab goals, but to have the best win rate overall, it's Positive.

Just checking -
Home games - Positive
Defend a lead - Cautious
behind need a goal - Very Attacking

Away vs elite -  ??

About 'very Attacking' - use Zazz blue or Zazz Red?

Your posts are never long enough.  Your advice encourages me to keep playing.  (I've not really been an FM enthusiast til now)
I'm a dreadful Manager.  In the dressing room I just follow along with the AssMan's pep talk suggestions.  But on the sideline during the match I have to choose the shouts.  Whenever I shout I mostly wish I kept my mouth shut.

Give me some basic guidelines.  In what situation do I shout out what?
Thanks for your patience with us asking questions.

What is the 'DEFAULT' mentality for Zazz blue when going on vacation & leaving the Ass Man in charge?
I've asked this before and I'm back to raise it again.
Zazz Blue - DM - recommended I think is DLP defend.

Been playing an Anchor Man for cautious/defensive mode & a BWM (DM) in Positive mode.

And it appears to me to be not much different.  Anchorman seems top stuff down in defensive.  But I've only played those roles in a dozen games.

What say you guys?
Thanks.  So the IWBs default is set to 'sup' (Zazz Blue).  If I switch to Cautious or Defend should I manually change their roles to 'defend' when I change Mentality during a match?
Zippo said: Heh, I think English isn't his native language and that's why he gave the thread such an inappropriate name but no worries I changed it to "Hints and tips for FM21". :)

I took the description "Hack" from 'Bust the Net' an FM guru.  He described the "automatic" setting  instead of att/sup/def. for fullbacks as 'the oldest hack in FM'.
The focus lately has been on N'golo Kante.  And I'm one of those who can't disagree that two thirds of the Earth is covered by water.  And the rest is covered by N'Golo Kante.
I want him in my Olympic Marseilles side.  But we can't afford him.  Only a top shelf elite team has any chance of grabbing him.
Is there anyone in FM21 who is an N'Golo-lite that I can bring into the squad?
Are there some tweaks I can use to improve my team?
e.g. 1) I've found you can set fullbacks RL to auto instead of fixed attack/sup/def.
2)You can set training intensity to auto.

One I'm desperate for is how to automate first team players to play in the reserves when they become unfit rather than me having to notice they are NOT in top condition.
and are there any others that'll help the manager?
Hi all.  I bought the FM in-game editor for FM21 when I bought FM21.  However I see you guys often mention the FM Scout Editor.  Do they the same job or are there additional benefits in adding FMSE?
ta2199 said: DM in Blue playing as "Passing Machine Role" with the duty of transition between Defenders and Attackers. That's why he got the low rating because all he was doing is just passing the ball away. Even though his rating is low, It doesn't mean he is bad. He play a decent Role in how the Tactic work and how your team is playing. If you want to test it, just move him away or changed to any Role and you will see how your Defending fall apart.

Thanks for replying.  Just to clarify when you say "DM" are you saying 'DLP' ( used in Zazz Blue) or 'DM' (used in Zazz Red)?
Most tactic makers nominate a DLP (sup) and some go for a DM (sup).  Not being an FM veteran I don't really notice much difference when I change the DM roles.
e.g. Using the phoenix / Zazz tactics we have 1xDLP.
My DM is a quality player so I want to get the most out of him.
Does anyone use a Regista ??
Why do you tactic mechanics never stick him in, preferring to send a DLP/DM onto the pitch?
And since my DM is above average using ZAZZ Blue what role would you go with for the DM?
I'm an end user.  And only a newbie novice.  I decided to by-pass time and 'go on vacation.'  I returned to the club unannounced in late December to see how things were going.  I had ticked 'use current match tactics' before exiting.  To my surprise when I opened the 'tactics' page to see who were the current 'a-team' I found the A.M. had the lads playing 4-4-2.
My Leeds are destined this season to finish 2nd or 3rd in the EPL.  Stocked up on young guns but none are good enough yet to be the front end striker.
I'm playing Zazz-blue and it evolves around two AM Shadow strikers up front.  It's not so easy to find a quality Shadow Striker with pace.  Most are AM RLs + ST.  Of course they can be retrained.  But I want to spend most of money on one ready-made off the shelf gun-AM star player.  I cannot afford the best of the best but with 3 years of installments I can buy someone of quality.
Care to shorten my search for me?
Newbie/novice question:  how do I use this table to help choose a player for my team?
I play with non-elite teams e.g. mid to lower EPL.  I want either one multi-task tactic or a combo of two or three interchangeable tactics during the match.
1) All must include 3 at the back, + 1 or 2 DMs. + 2 or 3 SSs.
2) Three levels to be Standard tactic + super defensive (e.g. vs elite) + all out late goal attack.
3) ALL three tactics based on 3-at-the-back.
4) And mid or lower EPL teams.

(perhaps changing mentality will be enough)
While your recommending tactics b4 I kick off a new season & hopefully not despair and abandon the save I'm going to pick a mid to lower EPL team.  I'd love to use 3 tactics in a combo e.g. main tactic, extra defensive and desperation attack seeking late goal.  N.B. All three must feature a DM. PLUS the three tactics must be compatible for interchange during the match.
