Those instructions tell your winger to hold the ball and wait for a marauding wingback to run from outside and reach the byline, crossing the ball to the center. However, inverted wing backs are set to cut to the inside, meaning they usually do underlaping movements instead. They are also set to cross less and from deep, creating a conflict in those instructions. You are also focusing the game through left and right, meaning you are enforcing that conflicting behaviour, which in turn makes your team perform worse. Play much wider is also negative, the inverted wing backs cut inside to the midfield and actually favor a short passing game, increasing your numerical advantage through the center.

Another thing that I would change is the instruction to force opponent outside. Inverted wing backs are set to sit narrower, meaning they leave more space outside that can lead to crosses. You would do better removing it or forcing opponents outside instead.

Another solution for those two problems above is to simply change inverted wing backs to wingers or full backs, instructing them to stay wider and move forward to do the overlap. That way they would do the overlap properly, benefit from playing wide and from playing through the flanks.

Overlap is a paradoxical instruction that not often does what it is nominally meant to do.
For example vujevic used overlap instruction in his 5-3-2 formation without any wingers to do overlapping runs at all.
The width of the team was picked when I noticed that the team played extremely narrow and there wasn't enough space to move the ball around. I actually found that even on maximum width with this tactic the team sometimes is too narrow for my liking.
The nature of the match engine is such that sometimes instructions have a effect on them different from its nominal describtion. For instance overlap instruction in vujevic tactic I believe helps the team involve the fullback in the game even if no "overlap run" occured.
That being said I'll look into your suggestions and think of something better eventually.
I am only making the tactic for fun after all ;)..
If I wanted to make a tactic compete with top masterpieces I'd make a no striker formation and run like 20 different variations in a test league before posting .

Btw the main purpose of using an inverted wingback as far as I know is they tend to be more solid defensively (at the expense of coming forward ofcourse).
Test results very dissapointing.
That being said I am not sure if I uploaded correct file!
I may have saved a earlier tactic as v5 by mistake.
I will rework the tactic now to try to make less Ass hopefully brang it to minimum 5 rating.

Hello I was cracking up a new tactic for testing if possible.
Testing on Tottenham.
The name HoodHerkules v5.
Starting from Preston game I was testing the v5 version (earlier version was played prior)
I want to know how it compared to my previous tactic , certainly seems promising , probably even more efficient.
Won Liverpool away 0-4.
I feel that :most useful changes I discovered in the last tweaks were : whipped crossing seems more efficient than low and most importantly : with this formation defending narrow is NOT the way to go so I removed it.
Well , my best tactic for this patch so far . Shame didn't make the first page but only by a bit!
I knew it would be better than DopePhenom! Very promising tactic and I might make a tweak or two to improve even further .

Hello I am in the process of perfecting my new system Flakka Extravaganza.
The last version is 6.1 which I am interested to get tested.
The tactic haven't been on a very long run but the play and the statistics I've seen so far on it on my test Man Utd save show very promising nature. I have used it since the city game and I believe it plays a whole lot better than DopePhenom.
I first tested earlier versions of the tactic on a test arsenal save and averaged about 2.4 ppg in the league after 25 ish games but this was on earlier most certainly inferior versions.Beat real madrid super comfortably away.
(we loaned in alaba to suppliment the wing situation he is learning Left Defensive winger position).

Also I am working simultaneously on new version of DopePhenom but its yet to be out.
Testing up the tweaked up version .
It is showing some good promise.
I have fair confidence the new version would cook up at least a 5 rating if tested but I need to polish it first.
I think I need to do a lot of tweaks to get this tactic dandier it is rather Ass at the moment.
I think I need to get rid of the libero and add ballplaying defender Cover instead.
also advanced playmaker to AMC since I think that would at least marginally at some defensive duties to him even in attack role.
Hello I have been cooking up a new tactic to test .
It is a 5-2-1-2 system a bit inspired by Vujevic use of liberos but all roles and instructions my own from scratch including setpieces.
I only gave it a brief run so far but with extremely promising results.
Here is the formation and results , please test if possible.
Upon Zippo's request for screenshot of tactic and results I have dug in and found another thread on fm base ( I only found the tactic initially on the chinese thread).
HERE are the required screenshots.

Southampton media expecations mid table ish finish 5th with 75pts tally.
I hope this is enough to have the tactic tested.
Hello , this tactic is from the series of pretty well known tactician stephenHK and I have carefully checked and made sure this particular version wasn't already tested for this new patch.
This is the thread of the source of the tactic but it is in chinese :
https://www.playgm.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=933610&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dtypeid%26typeid%3D520

The earlier version 3.5 was tested and did quite good at 1.779ppg (very high as far as I can see for a tactic using actual strikers.

This is the version 5. Unfourtunately the thread of the tactic showing the results is in chinese and I am not sure which results pertain to this particular version but since it being the newer version I have high hopes so please have it tested.

:D  :vomit:
Oh goodness me lil ol lad I got you really fired up didn't I?
While my tactics (a couple of which I already posted here) haven't tested anywhere near the top I make tactics better than this vomit here (and thats what it is frankly , lets cut to the chase). That being said , I don't need to post anythang or prove anythang to anyone to give constructive criticism without insulting anyone. If the tactic tests as low as this it is only fair to cut to the chase and tell thangs how they go lad , if that upsets you then I'm sorry but maybe you need to toughen up.
Lad it doesn't seem to me your tactic is all fine and dandy and that's just me mildly cutting to the chase.

Another one with West Ham, finished 2nd in the Premier League

Don't use any kind of ramdeuters are they are usually Shit on any kind of tactics lad probably wingers attack might improve thangs for ya i guess fiddling with the playmaker perhaps a dlp instead of advanced might improve something too since the playmaker might do more defensive work ... but u should try different things and see :)

Actually another idea advanced playmaker but Support intead of attack and hold position individual instruction , this was suggested one time to me by famous tactician Lisa.

Second with tottenham? nothing particularly special...a good tactic can win a league first season easily..But nice he won everything on man utd :)

Cobo10 said: Yeah 1,56 it‘s OK for a 4231 with IF at the moment

It exceeded my maximum expectations by 0.01 pts!!!
Lad don't get your hopes up! Based on the results i've seen in general on this patch for 4-2-3-1 formations and especially using inside forward i'd say maximum 1.55 or so ppg more realistically 1.4ish

Cobo10 said: Do you think there is a chance for a good 4231 or 433 with IF or IW?

Given the nature of the engine id say , Nope!
I'd be shocked if something over 1.6 ever comes out..
Your tactic just tested 1.56 ppg btw
