I've been using the testing league that Will put together and some of the community are using. I noticed that France were always in the top 3 of my test results. So I looked at the shape they were using and it was a 3412. I decided to try my hand at putting together a 3412 using some of the key instructions from some of the top tactics on this site and finally I managed to get some success with this one, The Last Shadow.
The set pieces are my own, but as I said roles and TIs are based on the top tactics on here. So credit to those 3 creators.
As you can see, it went unbeaten in the league, winning 33 drawing 5 and losing 0, we conceded 1 goal out the last 50 games from a set piece. Unfortunately City crashed out of the UCL in the QF stage.
I've also included the score from my testing with Will's testing league, it scored a respectable 544, which I believe would put this in 2nd place in his testing (well 2nd for now)
The top 2 have been tested for 5760 matches, did the scores improve from the original score? Reason I ask is because if they did and another tactic scores higher than what they did originally but currently sits third in the table then that tactic won't get tested over 5760 matches will it?

Far fewer runs up the middle than I saw in fm22, which is why I selected overlaps instead of underlaps. Did you notice this too? I wonder if VOL position interferes and they prefer to go wider Expand
You tried underlaps with focus play through middle?
crizeKOS said: I guess style of play in FM is just cosmetic, Im sry saying this. If I want a good gegenpressing tactic I would neither play DLF or PF but AF Expand
Yep sorry thats my point, if you comparing a DLF to a AF in a gegenpress tactic then the AF will be far superior in that role, where as the DLF will probably be better in a possession based tactic
I don't think there is a tier system as such and as obvious as this may sound, I think roles are impacted by the style you play, playing a DLF in a gegenpress isn't going to be as effective as playing a pressing forward.
But it is a good point, I often use the presets to understand which roles suit each style
Zippo said: I've just checked the v3 and v4, I looked only at the TIs and it isn't only overlap and underlap, you also remove 'Pass Into Space' TI, which is capable of making a quite difference.
And the difference between v3 and V4 was only 4 points, which is equal to the the margin of error of a 640 matches test so in theory you can get such difference when you re-test the same tactic but in addition you changed 3 TIs so I don't understand what looks 'crazy' to you. Expand
Apologies @Zippo I forgot that I removed pass into space
Zippo said: Only 2 points isn't a difference at all. It's even less than the margin of error.
If you re-test the same tactic in a normal save ( 38 matches ) then the difference might be as high as 20-25 points ( with the same tactic ).
We test tactics for 2К-3К matches to achieve the margin of error 1-2 points. Expand
Sorry that wasn't a dig at the testing as I appreciate the time and effort you guys put in. I was looking at the results of v3 and v4 with the only difference being overlap and underlap and there is a 65 point swing
Crazy the difference in score between the versions with very minor tweaks each time. I'm not sure if I've bombarded the test already with these 5 variations but I was going to release a v6 later with the set pieces Sandro directed to me. Ill update the original as that gave the strongest result
Something on the lines of 'the set pieces could be improved, check out this link' may have been a little more helpful, my tactics are scoring low? would say 50 is pretty decent
Delicious said: I am pretty sure that underlap for this kind of shape is a must, pass into space is giving you free points,i can't really see what are the rules of the tactic from the screen, but at least since the "counter-press" was removed from "must to have options" things are even smoother. You can try to check the differiecies with or without it. Expand
I would normally agree considering the test results, however just tested overlap with IWB and got my best results thus far

Spoiler What is Krabby Patty?
Changes from https://fm-arena.com/thread/3065-fm23-krabby-patty-v21-haaland-119-goals/ are that pretty much I've taken the TIs from the top ranked tactics on FM arena and implemented them into this 451.
A few postional changes
- WBs to CWB on support
- LCM to CM on attack
- IW to IF on attack
So credit must go to the creators of the top few tactics as I am using their TIs however SPs and player instructions are down to my choices
Changes from https://fm-arena.com/find-comment/17275/
- Removed dist to flanks
- Added dist to full backs
- Added tackle harder as a PI to all roles
- Other PIs added to IW/AM/AF

I'm going to shut up now
I suggest watching few matches in 3D to see the difference between IWBs and other FB roles, it's really huge.
I only watch matches in 2d will it still show the movements of the full backs?

He is basically saying you're a cabeza de polla
Your tactics use Long Throw-ins but they are terrible in FM23, no one uses them.
Dude, your set pieces are terrible that's your tactics get such low scores

Wow, thanks dude

Changes from https://fm-arena.com/find-comment/17275/
- IW to DW
- WB att to IWB att
- Added overlap left and right
- Removed underlap left and right
The main focus of this change was to see how the IWBs would perform with overlap instead of underlap
