LightningFlik said: I've found it for FM 24 and it wasn't pretty (nor complete). I don't know if it would work the same for FM 26.
First, I've learned that only human managers' tactics are stored in RAM. CPU-controlled teams appear to just have a formation (which may or may not line up with a manager's tactical preferences). What they play in a game though can't be predicted until you actually generate the fixture object, and even then they can just change it.
Your tactics however are stored in RAM but it's a faff to find it.
Firstly I tried to find something to glob on to. I set my tactical mentality to be Very Attacking and searched for the byte "7" in the game. Then I changed my mentality and refined the search ("Very Defensive" is 1 and "Very Attacking" is 7 with everything else in between). I got the number of results down to about 50 doing this.
Then I advanced a couple of days and checked my final result was still there. This got me to 16. I clicked through some other screens and advanced some more and I got down to two results. One of the addresses ended in a 9 and I guessed that was the one I wanted, since these values would be packed in to a data structure and not every property would necessarily align on 0, 4, 8 or C memory addresses.
Even if you're not sure of which address is the right one, or if the above is no longer true in FM 26, provided you've only got a few hits, you can browse the memory regions and start changing tactical instructions. In FM 24, these are stored as 8 byte numbers, with each option setting a flag on the value. In FM 24, Mentality is at position 0x19 of the tactical object and instructions are at position 0x0, so scrolling up from the hit I found and then changing stuff saw the value change.
This was the easy part.
I thought from here I could pointer scan for this object and always get back to it but this doesn't appear to be stored in an array with the team's UID or Row ID as a key; instead it appears to be stored in a binary tree. I've absolutely no idea if this is going to apply to FM 26 (maybe you'll get lucky with pointer scans surviving a restart).
It would probably be easier to download ChatGPT or Copilot and give it access to Cheat Engine/Ghidra and ask it to dig in than have me explaining using the written word how to navigate a binary tree in Cheat Engine for a game I don't own. Expand
Thanks, mate!
I'll try it.
Your efforts to help is much appreciated!
Even a small tip or sharing your experience is already a big help here!
LightningFlik said: I found it by browsing RAM in Cheat Engine. If you're familiar with pointer scanning, you can search for something that you _know_ exists on a Person entity (like their UID). Scan for this value across multiple resets of the game and eventually Cheat Engine will give you the static address + offsets that will reliably point to this person. (There will probably be a few ways of getting from a static address to the thing you care about, in which case you can probably pick the simplest. In this case, there's a list of pointers all packed next to each other that refer to various things: Cities, Nations, Weather, Injuries, People, Competitions etc. so we might as well start there).
If you aren't familiar with pointer scanning then you need to get familiar.
Alternatively, someone has probably already found that address and published it (you could search for a Cheat Engine table for the game and open that), or find an open source Player Analyser that someone has made.
I don't have FM 26 or I could tell you what it is myself. Expand
Thanks!
I've figured out how to find it.
And many other things also aren't that hard to find.
But ONLY ONE THING is still giving me nightmares and it's the TACTIC.
Any thoughts how to crack the TACTIC?
Where it can be stored?
I mean, I need to extract at least the Formation, I'm talking about the tactic that a human manager can setup for his team.

Clearer Interface & Smoother Navigation | FM27 Feature Deep Dive
SI Description:
In the first of our FM27 feature deep dives, Associate Game Director Rémy Boicherot and Senior Features Manager Ant Farley detail the improvements and updates that evolve the interface, giving you greater control and smoother discovery as you navigate your game world.
From the moment your save begins, you'll discover a more intuitive and familiar experience with primary and secondary navigation changes that empower you to more easily explore the wider game world.
For FM27, we’ve reworked the logic of the UI to recognise your preferences and adapt to whatever screen size and resolution settings you have. Whether you’re playing on a laptop or with a 4K monitor, you’ll now get a more optimal experience.
This is supported by the addition of a scaling mode controllable in Preferences. That's one of a number of Preferences changes in FM27, supported by Secondary Navigation Landing Spots, Shortcut Remapping, Bookmarks and the introduction of Tile Swapping. These combine to put more control in your hands and make it easier to tailor your game to your managerial style.
Our goal with these changes is simple: for them to feel efficient and intuitive, so you can focus on discovery and exploring the wider footballing world. More relevant information in each screen and more ways to shape how you engage with the game means greater control and depth to your experience.
* **Windows no longer needs BepInEx.** The app now reads Football Manager 26's data directly while it's running, without installing anything inside the game — simpler, and no more crash risk from plugin injection. If you had BepInEx installed from an earlier version, an option cleanly removes it (Settings > General). * **Draft newgen detection validated at 100%** accuracy on fields, attributes and positions. * **Updated user guide** with the new Windows install procedure and troubleshooting tips.
⚠️ This release is **Windows only** for now — macOS is coming in a follow-up update (the build already exists, publishing is just delayed). Nothing changes on macOS: BepInEx is still required as before.
One extra ask: if you've got a save with an unusual club/league setup (small league, out-of-the-ordinary squad, etc.), a dump file (`%LOCALAPPDATA%\FMAlexjvScout\dump-*.json` — just that small file, not the full save) helps me catch calculation bugs my own testing doesn't cover. Not required, but very useful if you've got one handy!
bf3metro said: FMSS is excellent, and I actually prefer it over GS. However, it's still far too buggy. About one out of ten times it simply won't load my save, throws random error messages, and I end up having to mess around with files, uninstall/reinstall it, create new save locations, and try all sorts of workarounds. Sometimes it starts working again purely by chance, but most of the time it doesn't. At the moment, it's just not reliable enough.
I don't know if there are any updates planned, but unfortunately it doesn't feel stable yet. I really hope it improves in the future, because it looks like an amazing tool with a lot of potential. Expand
My wild guess would be the tool somehow fails to recognize when a new save loaded and adjusts itself to the new memory addresses.
Probably, the tool needs an additional features that help to combat that issue, for example, there should be a button that you must click every time you load a new save so the tool to check and correct the memory addresses.
I only change the formation if my team got a man sent off because for example, if someone of your defenders got sent off then you would be suicidal not to adjust your defense line in this case.
When you play with Instant Result then your assistant manager does the team talks, substitutions and the shouts and if he's better than you in those areas then you'll get better results with Instant Result and if he's worse than you then you'll get worse results.

If he wasn't mentored then there's no reason for changing Professionalism and Ambition stats.
SI has released a new patch(26.3).

Which attributes should my assistant manager bring to the table?
- Tactical Knowledge - Tactics (?)
- Motivation - Shouts (?)
- Judging Current Ability - Substitutions (?)
- Determination - Just because it makes everything better?
I guess, no one except the game devs can be 100% right on that.
But I guess any or all at once from the below can have impact on the team talk and shouts:
- People Management
- Determination
- Motivation
We can only guess but to be safe we can find an assistant manager that have all of these stat at 20
For doing good in subs probably:
- Judging Current Ability
- Tactical Knowledge
It's simple as that.
Any chance someone could post Pi's for consoles players please?
I see the out of possession ones are in the first post but not in possession
Thank you 👍🏻
Look more carefully, the In Possession instructions PIs are on the screenshots.
I wonder what change gave this tactic a boost?
Could it be the Attacking Width?
I see this tactic uses "Much Narrower".
Does "Much Narrower" work better than "Narrower" ?
