Do I need a left-footed player there or is it all the same?

Yeahh... I think the preferred foot matters and it affects the performance but at what degree is hard to say, I don't think there's been any extensive testing on that matter.
pnp said: Okay, so it doesn't really matter whether I follow DB 2.0 or DB 3.0? In this case I would prefer DB 2.0 as tactics there are better rated now.

The results under the latest DB version should be more accurate and reliable if not, then why would fm-arena improving and updating the DB? :)
pnp said: What are these two different DB? If I start a new save today, should I only use tactics from DB 3.0 or what's the difference? Thanks.

"DB" is not related to the game it's related to fm-arena testing environment and "DB 3.0" is the most recent version of the fm-arena testing DB.
kjarus said: while here IFs are instructed to stay narrow.

Ok, but in this tactic the FBs are instructed to stay "Wider" and keep the width...

So what?

kjarus said: the IW had instruction to stay wider so when IWB cuts he would stay wider

Inverted Wingers by default "hard coded" to "Cuts Inside" so who is keeping the width in this tactic? https://fm-arena.com/thread/5765-424-bombyte-tweak/

if Inverted-Wingers "Cuts Inside" and Inverted-Wings-Backs stay Narrow then the who keeps the Width? Ohh... It doesn't make sense from "footballing perspective" but it works fine in FM! How come? Let me guess... maybe because FM is just a PC game? and a lot of crazy things might work well in a PC game? :goofy:

If you look at the table below then you'll find out that "Acceleration" and "Pace" massively dominate any other attribute... so what? It also doesn't make sense from  "footballing perspective" like many other things in FM... so what? Who cares? It's just a PC game.

https://fm-arena.com/table/26-player-attributes-testing/

I'm trying to tell you that arguments like "doesn't make sense from footballing perspective" can't be used when it comes to FM :D because it's just a PC game.
kjarus said: The cut inside with the fullback doesn't make sense - who maintains the width? Also, I guess the marking works due to other tactics now pushing aggresively their full-backs, but that's not what mostly happens against AI managers.

Personally I liked more the previous league database.

https://fm-arena.com/thread/5765-424-bombyte-tweak/

In the previous year FM version IWBs, which also cut inside, dominated the test... and I guess that time it did make sense for you and now it somehow doesn't... there's been many FM versions where strikerless tactics dominated and so what?

For God sake, FM is just a PC game and a lot of things in it don't make sane comparing to real life but they work fine because it's a PC game.

those numbers are related to fm-arena tactic testing database and not to the game
johnconnerson said: I could just be unlucky, but it seems like a lot of the meta tactics generate a lot of yellow cards. Why is that? It's something I've noticed over the last few games, so it isn't just a FM24 issue.

I recently started a new save using the Katana 4231 tactic and 7 games in my team leads the league in yellow cards. More than DOUBLE the amount as the team ranked 2nd. Is there a way to alleviate that or is that the price I pay for a good defensive tactic?

Ok, it's been tested now.

Katana tactic with "Tackle Harder" and "Gut Stuck In" ( 67.4 pts ) - https://fm-arena.com/thread/10629-katana-4231-att-103p-v1-9/

Katana tactic without "Tackle Harder" and "Gut Stuck In" ( 62.3 pts ) - https://fm-arena.com/thread/10936-katana-4231-att-v1-9-no-th-no-gsi/

The score dropped from 67.4 pts to 62.3 pts so the difference is just about 4 pts. I'd say it isn't a big difference so if you don't happy about the high amount of cards your team gets during a season then you can remove "Tackle Harder" and "Get Stuck In".
Cherknam said: I didn't say that it would have the same performance, nor did I say that it wasn't a trade off. My point was that the effect of those instructions is marginal and, from my experience, only amounts to a loss of a few expected points per season, which in some cases may be counteracted by not having as many key players suspended.

I'm not sure about "marginal".

I recall there was a test "Tackle Harder" vs "Easy Off Tackles" and the score dropped from 60 pts to 42 pts so -18 pts

Of course, it was with "Easy Off Tackles" and just with "Normal Tackles" the drop could be much less but anyway there's only way to say for sure is to test it. :)

Cherknam said: The yellow cards are mostly caused by the 'Get stuck in' TI and 'Tackle Harder' PIs that all the meta tactics have. You can probably remove those instructions without it affecting your performance too much, if the yellows are bothering you.

Now, just think what if you could remove 'Get stuck in' TI and 'Tackle Harder' and have the same performance without them as with them then who would use them in that case? It doesn't make sense.

It's always "trade off", you get more yellow cards but you also get better results. It's as simple as that.

There are no "free" performance boosts in this this game, everything has a price otherwise having many TIs would not make sense.
Infinity said: hm personally im getting better results with TH P97...any ideas why?

It's been tested and explained when it comes to a normal season that consists of 38 matches then the RNG can be as high as +/- 25 points so in a theory when playing a normal season then your result might be better with a "40" pts tactics than with a "60" pts tactic.

Also, it's been said many times that if the difference between tactics is less than 6 points in the fm-arena tactic testing then in a normal save they would work the same and the difference between this tactic and TH P97 is less than 1 point, which is absolutely nothing and fells into the RNG range, which never can be less than 1 points.
archil said: Does it still work at the same level for the 24.4 update?

Yes, because there aren't any M.E.(Match Engine) changes in 24.4 patch
pnp said: What are your suggestions for preferred foot for IFs, CF, and AF? I guess right foot for AML, left for AMR, but does it matter for CF/AF? Thanks.

When it comes to AF and CF I don't their preferred foot matters, I think it can be any.

There's hasn't been any M.E. changes between the patches and the difference due to the changes in fm-arena tactic testing DB.

Now, imagine what would be if you add 'Invite Crosses' TI to this tactic :woot: - https://fm-arena.com/thread/10046-fm24-invite-crosses-vs-none/
