Im using the 4 diamond 2 formation currently number 1 in the testing table for reference and playing the level 10 English database, currently my club is at level 10.

Without using any filters on Fmscout I have a player who is not a FB at all but a DM or AMC on the player profile, however FMscout rates him as my best FB at my club on the position % buy a clear distance. He is rated 49% FB and the next highest player only 32% fullback. Why is this? Should it be ignored and him used as a DM or should I put him in at fullback if thsts what the FMscout says?

Sorry for the question.

Thank you for reading

Hi,

There've been many tests of the attributes.

Follow the links bellow and you'll find out which attributes and at what degree  affects the result

If you want to be safe then put the Defensive Wingers or Shadow Striker to take the corners.
FreddyAdu said: Who should take the corners?
Usually, a player with the highest "Take Corners" attribute

I really don't think it's worth being that geeky about it.
@chef, I think you really need to provide some facts.

I mean, if you're 5 or 10 seasons in the future then you can shows us what players top clubs have.

For example, many top clubs including Man City, PSG, Liverpool and others start the game having 160CA-180CA players and if after 10 seasons into the future they having 130CA-150CA players then it might be an issue.

Their preferred foot isn't important, can be any.
Guidito said: What should the preferred foot of the DWs be?
It isn't important, can be any.

Guidito said: I can re-train AML/AMR to ML/MR but both of them are inside forwards (right foot on left and vice versa) and have the 'cut inside' trait.
Yes, you can.

Guidito said: Can someone tell me how the DWs behave?

They play like normal wingers 99% of time but it's just when it comes to the defensive phase they're a bit more defensive than normal wingers and that's all.
keithb said: With good teams this is amazing. With a big underdog the PI's give the ball away all the time, so many long balls up to no-one and then easy counter's for the opposition. And throw ins probably concede more than they score
Poor players give the ball away often not because of the PIs or anything else, they do it because they are poor players and changing the PIs won't help and even it can make the thing worse

opq said: I'd just remove Take more risks PI across all positions. Dribble more is OK even for underdogs.
Removing Take More Risks across all position won't make any difference because there's "Pass Into Space" TI that automatically turns on Take More Risks PI for all positions.
Cryns said: I wonder who's (generally) easier to retrain as a defensive winger, Wingbacks or Wingers.

You don't need to retrain someone into a defensive winger, you need to train to a player to play at  ML and MR positions, it's a different thing, don't confuse them.

Obviously, if a player already has some playing rating for ML and MR positions then  he can be trained faster to player there.
opq said: wb/rwb is way more easier to retrain since they have strong foot for that side, which is rare nowadays for attacking wingers

It's been tested many times that the preferred foot doesn't matter
hoofball said: Is it possible to get good results with these tactical styles? All 'good tactics' have a short pass or press much more(In fact, most have both).
I want to succeed with the tactics that the computer recognizes me in the tactical style mentioned above.
Can I get help with this?

Define what you mean when you say "good results" ?

If you bring in your team the best players in the game like Messi, Mbappe, Neymar, Haaland and so on then you can win any domestic league even using a very average tactic or even a poor tactic. In other words with such incredible team you can use any tactic.

But if you manage a weak team and you want to overachieve as high as possible then you need to use the most effective tactic in the game and obviously, "Route One, Wing Play, Direct CA, Catenaccio and Park the Bus" styles aren't the most effective styles in the game.

Blau said: If it helps at all in my experience the preferred foot of both the DW and IWB do not matter. However, I do think it is beneficial if the wingers are decent at tackling.

If my memory serves me right then in fm-arena league wingers(DWs) have like "5" for "Tackling" so I really don't think that high "Tackling" is necessary.

May I ask... what would be the purpose of that? I really can't think any myself
Wigo said: there is always patch after january transfer window... but yeah sometimes ME its not changing...

The previous year the winter transfer patch come out 24 February so we're are like more than 1 month away from the next patch.

Usually, the end of February - early March is when the winter transfer patch comes out and it's rarely it has any significant M.E. changes.
Wigo said: I truly doubt that before new patch someone will break the record of points and new patch will be in next 2 weeks!

No one, except the developers, knows when the next patch comes out, it might few weeks or few months.

Also, there might be no M.E. changes at all in the future patches.

It happened very often in the past that after December there weren't any M.E. changes or they were insignificant.

So the current M.E. might be the final M.E. for FM23.

Actually, I stopped playing FM because they removed FMT from PC.

That was their stupidest decision ever.

AG said: is this good tactic for underdog?

To answer your question at first you need to define what would be "good" result for you with underdog.

Any tactic with "46+" score in the testing allows overachieving with any type of team.
Bear in mind the ratings are tied to the results.

If you play with the worst team in the league and you lose every match then the ratings of your players will be very low 4.0 - 5.0 ( across the positions )

If you play with the best team in the league and you win every match then the ratings of your players will be very high 8.0 - 9.0 ( across the positions )

If some positions in your tactic get lower ratings than other positions then you can do nothing about it because it works the way the devs tuned the ratings the positions.

Btw, the devs might tune the ratings from patch to patch.
