It seems to have very similar results with or without, so I prefer not to use it.
Added a version with DLP moved to SS in case someone wanna try. Results don't seem to be too different for strong team, so it's an option if you have a good AM instead of a DM.

I don't think corners are so absurd as people say. Before we had 100 goals a season with 20-25 goals from corner, now we have 140 with 30-35 goals from corner. The proportion seems about the same to me, it's just that teams are scoring more. I might be wrong, but it's just my feeling.

Thanks! It still has lots of potential to improve, since I didn't try any optimization on that shape yet. Hopefully it can reach 6.0+, either by me or someone's else tweak.

Just trying some new shapes to see if it works well. Orange is a 4-3-3 with three strikers and no wingers, with focus on scoring lots of goals.





Orange SS is the same as Orange, but with DLP moved to SS. Results are in this comment here. Since it's just a small variation with very similar results, @Zippo can leave it in the bottom of the priority list to be tested, or even ignore it. I uploaded it more to give options than to be tested.

Orange 2CM is a suggestion of MrGreen, moving both Vol to CM and SS to DLP. Results are here.

Light Orange SS is a tactic to save energy and avoid cards. It's worse than Orange SS, so it should only be used when you have a comfortable lead, like at least two or three goals.
It didn't update here yet.

Hover over a couple of players from your opponent and see how the compare to yours. If they are better, then you are underdog.

It was tested here. I am currently playing with a version of Blue with strikers, but since this one was posted before and they are very similar, I thought it didn't make much sense to post my version.

Match engine seems broken right now (more than usual). If you check goals scored and goals conceded, most tactics are scoring around the same number of goals, but conceding around 50% more. That's probably because of the new animation system, that looks better but still needs some refining. Because of that, tactics get more unstable and have lower points per match compared to last year. For comparison, a 5.8 tactic last year was considered below average, while now it's the best we have. It should hopefully improve after next patches.
Yellow 3.0 is Yellow 1.0 with Vol-Su instead of Vol-At, and a L-Su.


Yellow 2.0 is a tactic with three defenders for this new patch. I have created two versions, with one striker and two strikers, respectively.

I really believe it's a match engine issue, defenses are just too leaky. Since I don't think we can solve that before next patch, we probably need to go for tactics with high scoring capabilities.

To confirm that, someone could test the best defense tactic from last year, like Stronghold or Copper, and see how they concede over 1.5 goals per match in FM-Arena table (it was around 1.0-1.1 last year).

I think tactics are being held back by horrible defenses. We have the same attack power as last year, but defense is way leakier.
Seems like height isn't important at all. I remember of a right midfielder from Argentina, Juan Pablo Sorín, that used to be everywhere in the field. He was very short but had lots of jumping reach, winning several aerial challenges. I liked watching him because he was crazy, he played every ball like his life depended on that.

P.S.: Keep an eye that attribute performance is probably not linear. It could very well behave like a logarithmic function, where it grows very fast to maximum performance, then has a very small growth after certain value. That could mean the first points are very important and after certain level it's not important at all. Or it could be completely useless, hard to tell without further testing. Considering most good players have at least 8-10 in every attribute, then we can probably say it's useless.
