Now the difference between Pre-Game Editor and FMRTE is that with the former you can edit the data ONLY before starting a new career. This is what we mainly use to create the test leagues. FMRTE on the other hand can edit data in "real time" i.e. as if you are within your career.
Have you actually tried this approach out yourself and got better results, or is it more like a theory you think might work? I'll definitely give it a go in my games. Though, I'm thinking of starting a new save with a weaker side to really see if it outperforms the standard plug & play approach of just using the top-rated tactic. Expand I haven't tried it to be honest, but I'm almost 90% sure that this approach will work better than always using the same formation for the whole season and for every match.
I'm curious to see some results! Please when you try it out, post them here.
Gianaa9 said: Hi, i'm pretty interested, but i really don't know how does it work ahah, if you could explain me i would thank you so much! After some discussions we've had here on the forum about which tactics perform best in regular seasons I thought I'd share this thought with you about how I'd approach tactics based matches with what I know so far.
So I would suggest the following: - If your opponent is using FB/WB/CWB on both sides then I would go with a tactic that uses two wingers and two fullbacks.
- If your opponent uses IWB on both sides and doesn't use any DMs or the ones they do use rotate (Segundo Volante, Roaming Playmaker and Half Back) then I would go with a tactic that has two AMCs and two fullbacks.
- If your opponent is using IWB on both sides and also is using at least one DM that does NOT rotate (all roles except Segundo Volante, Roaming Playmaker and Half Back) then I would go with a tactic that has three AMCs and two fullbacks.
** These examples are there to make it even easier for those of you who simply choose tactics based on the best score. Other tactics from other creators can perform just fine as long as they maintain the specific formation for each case!
Thanks for your interest! So far it's not completely ready and for your information it's somewhat based on the FM-Arena testing league. That is there are 5 controlled teams and 5 AI teams and they play each other 100 times in a season. The league is H2H.
Chris said: Yes, I just said mine was the better for fmarena because is at the top, not for promoting myself hehe.
I agree with you, but that's the first tactic I had with this problem, been using top tactics of fmarena for 2 years and always overperform, that's why I am worried.
Since I didn't studied this ME a lot i'm just reading people like you and others from this forum so I can learn more and more hehe ^^
In addition, can you answer me which tactic would you choose for a regular season between every box levante tweak, including box levante? Furthermore, I would apreciate if you also tell me which tactic of all the fmarena table would you choose (regardless the players). Expand Mine too belongs to your 'Box Levante' family.
Sorry to spoil it for you here but I would play this tactic because it allows for different ways of team building in the match but don't expect big differences from yours because the philosophy is similar.
Regarding your second question I really don't know since I don't monitor/check/test other people's tactics.
The most likely reason no one commented on this thread is because almost no one cares how a test league is made and what parameters it takes into account. They just see which tactic is first on the table, save it and play with it. I don't blame them and the truth is I don't give a damn about how anyone uses the forum.
Reason being, those of us who are a bit more involved with tactics etc would do well to deliver more quality results since that is the purpose of the website as well (at least that's what I know in my years here).
Something I haven't seen it reported anywhere is that the game developers at FM23 had introduced a new AI model and it radically changed how you play/build a tactic. That's why the tactics that had 'Take More Risks' + 'Dribble More' + 'Shoot Less Often' in almost all roles are a thing of the past. At least as of today as we speak.
Now as for the tactics you're asking me about I really don't know because I don't follow other people's tactics. Only the ones I did myself and the ones I made some tweaks to. My goal this year was to try a few things without taking too much into account the score meaning that I don't care about being first or last on the table. If you notice my own tactics, you will see that there is no consistency in the different versions for the above reason.
Try different tactics from those with a score of 55 and above and you might find one that makes a difference for you. My view is that this year the tactics that have an asymmetrical shape is a little bit better.
Chris said: After all the tweaks you have done, which 'box levante' between mines and yours do you think is the best for playing FM? (since we alrdy know that the best for fmarena is 'box levante' ). Expand In short, yours is only slightly better. I don't say that to promote mine. When the difference is around 1-2 points then all tactics are equally good.
Chris said: As I said before on my post, I'm really struggling with 'Box Levante', despite having good team, I'm winning but every game with close results like 0-1 2-1 3-2.
Last tactic I used was "Grand Vol" and with worse players I was smashing almost every team. Ty for answer Expand This is why I think the test league needs improvements. It needs to better reflect the regular career because we have come to create tactics to win the test league rather than in-game. If that's what everyone wants then I'm better off not bothering again.
I've spent many hours trying things especially in FM23. It was the first year since I can remember playing FM that I didn't play a single regular season and all I did was tests tests tests and so I know ME quite well.
CBP87 said: This was one of the reasons I asked for 1200, 2400 and 4000 matches test results to be shown so that we could track the progress of the tactic results Expand I don't think there's any real reason for it. What I've said several times is that all tactics should be tested for 1200 games and those that go into HoF should be tested for 4000 games and limit score to include only 58+. Stars rating could be change to ‘below average’ - ‘average’ - ‘above average’.
I also think that the test league could be improved even further with various suggestions I have made in the past in various threads. Right now it just promotes only one way of approaching tactics which I'm not saying is bad or wrong but we could have more variety of options.
I have written this thread with the intention of getting other different opinions heard but there is no interest it seems.
After several tests I've done in the past, mostly on the 24.1 version, but also some on this one (24.2) here on FM-Arena I've noticed some things about the testing league and I want to share them with you.
AI managers have mostly the same attributes as each other and that means they play and approach matches in the same way. It also means that they use the same roles (each formation among themselves) and because of that the formations and the way one builds tactics in general and tests them here is generally quite predictable as to what the outcome will be.
Let me give you an example. All AI managers without exception use IWB(s) on DR/WBR and WB(a) on DL/WBL and after my own testing and that of others here and elsewhere we conclude that IWBs inside FM24 are weak at defending. So with that in mind I can simply put in 'Focus Play Down The Left' & 'Overlap Left' and I will get better results with almost all formations and roles that encourage these moves. There are other things we can take as examples as well, but I think you get the point here.
At this point I want to ask, what are we trying to create? A tactic that will get the most points within the testing league or the best possible tactic that will get the most points within regular careers?
The reason I ask this is because within the testing league there is no diversity in terms of the opponent and with that being said simply the best tactics here just beats AI teams within the testing league and we are not sure if it will pay off the same in a regular season/career.
What are your thoughts about this?
Thank you!

Some very good points made there though Expand The issue here is not necessarily about 'Positive', 'Balanced' etc. It's a bit more general and is intended to improve the testing league so that the 'best' tactics here, to stand out in regular seasons too.
Btw I also use the 'Positive' mentality and don't change it in matches, except when I desperately want to score goals and generally increase my team's risk.
I'm going to take this little bit of time, because of where this tactic is in the first place in relation to its formation and most people just watch first tactics only, to say a few things. (I don't know if it will remain in the position the tactic is in now as I write this)
