Loads of tactics have achieved that and some have achieved even more points

Thank you

and it depends, I normally leave the tactic as it is to be honest and let it play out, however there are times when leading away or against a big team that I change some instructions to see the game out. Dropping mentality to balanced, removing get stuck in, prevent gk short distribution, high press and all the risk taking that comes with the tactic, also add time wasting
dzek said: Hi everyone,

I'm going to take this little bit of time, because of where this tactic is in the first place in relation to its formation, to say a few things. (I don't know if it will remain in the position the tactic is in now as I write this)

After several tests I've done in the past, mostly on the 24.1 version, but also some on this one (24.2) here on FM-Arena I've noticed some things about the testing league and I want to share them with you.

AI managers have mostly the same attributes as each other and that means they play and approach matches in the same way. It also means that they use the same roles (each formation among themselves) and because of that the formations and the way one builds tactics in general and tests them here is generally quite predictable as to what the outcome will be.

Let me give you an example. All AI managers without exception use IWB(s) on DR and WB(a) on DL and after my own testing and that of others here and elsewhere we conclude that IWBs inside FM24 are weak at defending. So with that in mind I can simply put in 'Focus Play Down The Left' & 'Overlap Left' and I will get better results with almost all formations and roles that encourage these moves. There are other things though I think you get the point here.

At this point I want to ask, ultimately what are we trying to create? A tactic that will get the most points within the testing league or the best possible tactic that will get the most points within regular careers?

The reason I ask this is because within the testing league there is no diversity in terms of the opponent and with that being said simply the best tactic here just beats teams within the testing league and not sure if it will pay off the same in a regular season/career.

In closing I want to say that for me, as far as this particular formation is concerned, the best (my) version is this and not this one.

Thank You!

PS 1 I am not writing this to confront anyone or to malign the practices of the staff here at FM-Arena. I certainly appreciate the work they do and in general for the space they have here and hosting us.

PS 2 Please anyone who wishes to discuss this topic please speak respectfully to all and comments should be constructive.

I have to admit, I prefer to use positive or balanced mentality in my personal saves and I don't often release them especially the positive ones as they seem to do so poor in testing.

Some very good points made there though

Invincible PL season. only 2 defeats in all comps

Mentality changed to balanced

Lapidus said: @Artabora, once more, it is a very bad idea to do that because even if those "selected players" have terrible conditions something like 40%-50% "Red Heart" Conditions then the assistant manager will still pick them because that's how "use current team selection when available" feature works.

Again, if you test without FMRTE then you should never use the "use current team selection when available" feature because without rotating the team the result will be much worse than with using "rotation"

Maybe but the likelihood is that the player will start and due to his physical condition will be subbed off
Artabora said: @CBP87

"He is putting the players in a role but not locking them in"

Mate, what exactly do you mean with this? Is there a way to lock a player individually?

Yes, select use current team selection when going on holiday. You don't have to have a player in each role. If you select 3 players and tick that option then those 3 should start when available and the other roles will be selected by the AM
Lapidus said: That approach only viable when you use FMRTE to get every player 100% before every match otherwise the assistant manager will be using "the selected players" even if they have "red" conditions.

If you test without FMRTE then your the assistant manager must be allowed to rotate the team.

I test without FMRTE and input Haaland and go on holiday leaving the rest of the selection to the AM. But in regards to what Artabora is saying, He is putting the players in a role but not locking them in so therefore the AM will remove them from that role as part of rotation as you said.

By freezing your team then you'll need to freeze every other team in the league to level the playing field
Chewbacca said: @CBP87 is going for the TOP :)

Probably only one way now mate and that's ⬇️
Are you sure you're ticking use current match tactics? I know there was a bug in previous versions where the tactic would change when going on holiday.

It might be worth holidaying for a day or 2 and checking the tactic hasn't changed.

In regards to putting players in the roles, make sure to click the "use current team selection" when holidaying otherwise the AM may not use them in that role
A 433 inspired by this https://fm-arena.com/thread/8618-katana-4231-101p-v1-5/

Essentially moved AMa to CMa and right DM to CMs, also added pass into space

haha fair enough pal, had me confused for a minute there

Eh?

Tactic doesn't use IWBs

Cheers mate,

I'm sure we will see it beaten, hopefully sooner rather than later
Heyheyhey said: Wow! Great results! What are the most important things with this tactic? What attributes would you want for your defensive wingers for example? I assume luiz diaz and szoboslai arent ideal since they arent actually going to win the ball back?

For defensive wingers mate, I often look at full backs who can play the wing back role too, they often perform very well there. That is essentially what a defensive winger is, a wing back. Well that's my opinion anyways. Concentrate on Acceleration, Pace, Stamina, Work Rate and Crossing
Sorry @The Beast forgot to add the SK PIs!

Thanks @Grimlock
