To catch some people up.. preset tactics are not good in general. They can just give us some clues like last year's "Fluid Counter-Attack" which came second in points along with "Vertical Tiki-Taka". If you look at the first tactic in the FM23's table, you'll notice that the team instructions it has are a combination of Gegenpress, Fluid Counter-Attack and Vertical Tiki-Taka. I hope you got the point.

Now I'm enjoying the ability to analyze the "game within the game" - and with 15 XLS and so many formulas - I feel like it's great to have a community of analytical minds. Expand Sorry but I took it in the bad sense of the word.
Sure it's good to break things down because the game itself is a large amount of data with UI. That's how I see it. It's just that everyone is analyzing the part they are interested in etc. I don't get too much into player attributes because it takes a lot of research and I think here if someone has a very good knowledge of AI and machine learning then we can get to an important point.
I want to measure a couple of things depending on the state of the club I'm managing.
What I do is try to come up with an aggregate rating - that may be just entering key attributes against ykykyk or somesuch. That's useful. But then I do two things -
1) Compare my player aggregate rating to a player with "all 12s" - in an attempt to recreate something like "Wins Above Replacement" as used in baseball. Basically - is my player better than the average flotsam I can pick up easily - and how much better? This helps in roster construction and transfer window opportunities, and esp if I'm playing a small or poor club (or the MLS).
2) Every time the game posts "Top 50 Best in World" to my inbox - I go and find the highest rated player in that top 50 and put them in the same ratings as I use for my players. Then I create a comparison metric that answers the question "how far away is my player from the best on the market?"
This is useful for clubs that are rich and / or when I want to dethrone PSG.
3) I'm playing with the idea of comparing my player's ability vs. how much I'm spending. I haven't come up with a good approach other than to divide the aggregate rating by salary here, which can be helpful, but I feel like there might be a better approach.
Finally, I'm playing with the idea of using/stressing the attribute testing on this forum:
Which I *love* because it shows me based on results vs. the weights. I feel like measuring based on how the simulators algorithms respond is more meaningful than just how it constructs the inputs into the simulator. Expand Brother, we're talking about two different things. What you're doing and what I'm trying to point out have nothing to do with each other.
I do my own calculations too and I have over 15 excel files to measure different things within the game with formulas etc. What I told to the guys is a comparison of the two programs ( GS & FMRTE ) in terms of the ratings they create within the tool. So keep doing what you are doing and if you can help the community more here post your stuff so we can help each other. Thats all

Expand I agree with you for the most part and there can certainly be noise in the result with a 2 point difference and a nod to the fact that only 1200 matches were played. Exellent said: Set Pieces are automatically installed when loading tactics? Expand I'm sorry but you didn't understand what I said.
Now in FM24, compared to previous versions of FM, Set Pieces routines are a separate part from the tactics so you will need to set them by yourself even if you are using someone else's tactics. Here at FM-Arena we ONLY look at the tactics without considering Set Pieces routines so in every test that takes place here the instructions for setting up the Set Pieces are done by the assistant manager.
If you want to use someone else's set up routines separately you can request them at the link I sent you above. Just create a new thread there and write exactly what you want. Most likely there are others too who are interested in this topic.
Snaipz said: Well I use FMRTE for editing/changing things about the club I'm managing if needed, but I never thought about it as a scouting tool. Genie Scout is so easy, cause if you have world scouting package in FM, it shows you all interested players who want to transfer/loan to your club, then you can easily import all of them to Genie Scout and sort them by how good/expensive they are in each position. Also attribute weighting is a big deal, and I'm not sure if FMRTE has that. Expand To be honest, both programs have their good and bad points.
I was stuck with Genie Scout for many years and thought one year I would use FMRTE to see if it would help me better. What I find in GS as its best feature compared to FMRTE is its simplicity. Just this.
You can also import shortlist if I’m not wrong on FMRTE and sort them however you like. Now in terms of attributes weighting I think FMRTE excels for the reason that you can even set weightings for the strong/weak foot (which impacts CA/PA) but in GS is predefined under the hood for each position individually. Also another big help on FMRTE is that you can copy/paste anything within the program to anywhere you want and you dont need to take a screenshot then extract text from image etc.
Btw I’m not working or get any commission on FMRTE project I’m trying to help!
