Got a bit of free time and decided to get back to my career at Concord Rangers. I'm now at 25 matches in my first year at Premier League and lost three of the past four matches. Somehow, I'm still at 7th and inside the Euro League, which is my goal for this season.

During the last transfer window, I brought a couple of new faces. I had to replace a defender and a defensive midfielder, because they wanted to leave the club and their morale wouldn't get green again. I also replaced a goalkeeper, a striker and another defender for cheaper players with similar ability, since they were in the last year of contract.

Other than that, I'm just playing and praising players to keep morale high. My team quality is steadily improving with both training and transfers, and I expect to have a better second half of season, to stay around 6th or 7th place. Unfortunately, UCL is not a reasonable goal for this season.

Red is updated into a 4231.
chanho said: thank you! I know it hasn't been tested on version 4.0. And I also think that the role of a wide midfielder is an important change in tactics.

I have seen some tactics not being picked for testing exactly because they had just one role as the only change. Some roles have been tested time and time again and have very similar performance, like BPD and CD, or IWB and FB, DM and RPM and so on. However, maybe they will test, it's hard to know exactly.
Maybe they won't test because it's Blue DW with WM instead, so it's just too similar to something already tested.

P.S.: Nevermind, just remembered Blue DW wasn't tested in this patch.
It probably has another tactic tested in a very similar shape.

3 strikers playing all the time in my defensive area is very dangerous dont you think??? when he crosses they have 3 strikers and the miedfield centers!!

The ZAZ BLUE 4.0 with a line of 4 (2 central defenders) you think can handle against 3 strikers???

Thanks

That might be true, but when their wingback goes to the byline to cross, you have a whole flank to exploit in counter attacks. That's the biggest disadvantage of having only one player in each flank, and gegenpressing is a good way to take advantage from that, since you can intercept the ball closer to the opponent's goal and face his defense exposed.

tenho um jogo online importante contra um adversário com esta tatica e não posso perder. Uso 3 centrais ou arrisco com a ZAZ blue 4,0????

obrigado

To be honest, I would just keep Blue. He is probably wondering how to win against you more than you are.
Pip said: Thanks @ZaZ will try the cautious mentality and a few more shouts. Squad rotation and subs is essential, especially with the amount of bookings!

You can also change players to "Ease Off Tackle" if they get a yellow card, or change the tactic to Light Blue if you have the match under control (if you are using Blue).
Pip said: @ZaZ I am undertaking a similar journey, I have got Oxford City in to the prem. One thing I am really struggling with is holding on to leads, any advice?

If you are using Blue, then try changing to Cautious when you have a good lead. Keep shouting to your players all time (praise or no pressure) and make sure to use all subs every match. Other than that, rotation also helps the players stay fresher for longer, and better players will obviously also help.
I might be wrong, but I'm quite sure the player can only "control" initial CA and PA of youth players.

Sorry, took a pause because of external factors, but I'll be back soon to make Concord win the UCL (which will take a couple of seasons).

I havent try my FM22 with Winter Update yet. The ME from 22.2 to 22.3 changed too much or we can play with tactics from update 22.2 without problems? Thanks 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Changes are minimal, but teams with IW and IF are usually better than last patch.
Oshea said: Been having some real success on my journeyman save. But have suddenly encountered some real problems in the premier league. Went from hero to zero real fast.

The best team I've managed by far in my save, but the worst results. What is most important: Team CA or role suitability?

Read "Bad Results" and "Role Ability" in the first post. Hope you get back to victories soon!
Middleweight165 said: Interesting. So the results of that indicate Agility is more important if I am reading it right? Do the results of that correlate with the tests done on this site regarding attributes? Im assuming this is more specific to position and then specific to position in your tactic

In his tests, yes, it was more important. However, keep in mind that it's very hard to calculate the efficiency of attributes for goalkeepers, and his tests were done during last patch (probably won't be different in this patch, but you never know). Tests from FM-Arena didn't focus on specific positions, because you need an absurd number of runs to make the results meaningful.
Middleweight165 said: How have you come to that conclusion? Im ready to trust you blindly after the tactics youve created :) Just interested in the why

GK1 - Reflexes-18/Agility-13
GK2 - Reflexes-15/Agility-16

Which one are you signing?

Don't trust me blindly, lots of people here have way more knowledge about the game than me.

Anyway, a guy from China made a study about the importance of attributes to Blue 3.0 DM using machine learning, and his findings are in the first post of Blue thread, under "Important Attributes". I'm not saying it's a definitive thing, but I prefer to trust some robust test like that or FM-Arena's than just following my personal feelings.

About your two players, I think the difference between then is probably minimal and it would be better to look at other attributes as a tie breaker.
Middleweight165 said: How do you guys choose GKs? Which attributes do you look for? If you could see CA would that be the deciding factor?

Agility and reflexes.
Harrison said: Have you tried force opponents inside when running a back 3? I noticed a trend on knaps tactics awhile back that back 4 were better with force outside and back 3 seemed better with force inside. Haven't tested myself though.

I'll remember that when I go back to testing for Yellow. Thanks!
Gpassosbh said: Hello @ZaZ ,
Have you tested any other formation with 3 at the back? Any recommendations for a formation with 3 at the back??

I have tested a bit and it seems like Libero without offside trap works better than three ball playing defenders. I was going to keep checking other things but got side tracked with other tests.
Harrison said: Interesting, I think I underrate CM-At but I will do some testing to compare.

Here’s my previous anecdotal experience with a lone CM-At in the midfield. Possession regained is mostly in opponents or our penalty area so CM-At isn’t doing much to regain possession. In build up if CM-At gets the ball then it draws all the teammates to the centre. When CM-At doesn’t have the ball and team is in the penalty area then CM-At arrives unmarked for a goal attempt.

Have you tested Vol-At or do you always keep the same back 5?

For now, one DM is always working better than two DM for me, which is why Vol-At isn't doing well for me. Three DM is even worse, so I gave up on trying more than one DM. I'm not saying it doesn't work, I just couldn't find a situation to make it work well. I mean, two DM can be decent, but I couldn't find a configuration that was on par with the top.
I tried something similar with CM-At instead of DW and it worked pretty well.
