crazyfmguy93 said: thanks for answering. you mean if Raphinha is 18/20 for AMR positon and Damsgaard is 20/20 for AMR positon, I should choose Damsgaard?

Yes, actual current positional ability Damsgaard stays at 83.50% and Raphinha drops to 80.35%.

@Yarema is right. If you play and train Raphinha at AMR he may end up slightly better in the position. This doesnt always happen though and it may depend on age and Potential Ability
crazyfmguy93 said: Hello, MDW22 is fantastic for me in FM22. are you using MDW22 for only positional rating? what do you think about role ratings?

Im using ZaZ - Blue 4.0. For AMR positon I have Damsgaard and Raphinha.

Positional Rating
Raphinha 84
Damsgaard 83,5
Role Rating For Winger Support Role
Raphinha 88
Damsgaard 91

Which player do you choose?

Role rating doesnt really matter. Positional rating is important but it also matters if the are Natural for the position or 20/20 for the position in Genie Scout rating.

crazyfmguy93 said: One more there are 3 different rating file
YKYKYKY
MDW22
Zaz

Which one is better for Zaz Blue?

ykykyky was the one developed using machine learning for ZaZ Blue tactic. I still used MDW22 and still do.

All the below should be in your original post so you will need to edit it:

You must provide a screenshot of the tactic/formation,

You must provide a screenshot of the league table. At least one full season must be played ( FOR/AG/G.D. stats must be visible ),

You must provide a screenshot of the team selection ( Goals/Assists/Ratings stats must be visible ),

You must provide a screenshot of the fixtures ( from the start to the end ).
Chriswin4 said: That's a very good point. However, I do wonder if there is a baseline we can reach where we know a player is going to succeed to a certain degree in the match engine.

I play lower leagues. At the start of each season and at the mid season mid Point i look at clubs ratings on genie scout (i either use MDW or ykykyky). I record best, worst and the mid point. I do this for league up to and including EPL.

I then rate my players against the mid point of each league and get rid of any that won't make the mid point of the League we expect to be in either this season,  at the start,  or league above at mid season if we look like getting promoted. My spreadsheet then rates the players current and future ratings as a league value.

I have a calculation for potential rating that applies a likely improvement rate based on age and potential positional improvement.

It works for me. No idea how you would code that with python.
detroitrex said: I wonder if it's possible to get a tactic all the way down to zero...

Here it is. Wouldn't be able to get it through to testing as you cant complete a season without being sacked

Great stuff @CBP87. This is the shape I have had most success with in game but my tactic failed on FM Arena. I am still using it with great success but might now throw yours in as the Main Tactics. I run between 4 tactics, with 424 Grand Vol as a control tactic after we score or if the opposition is going more attacking, 343 Italian KO to Park the Bus and 424 Deformation II if we need a goal.

I just make sure I have a few versatile players and the bench to support transitioning between the tactics if I need it.
Maorrixx said: I only started using newgen manager 2 days ago so used opening post instructions.

I have other facepack (real player faces) in graphics folder + logo's pack.

Both managers are indeed in the same save file.

****** EDIT******
I discovered it only seems to be for French NEwgens that this issue appears

Can you post a couple of screenshots of ones that don't work and their Unique IDs, and also a screenshot of the end of the Newgan.log file

I was curious if any of the recent attribute tests are applicable to slightly older versions of FM? I use Genie Scout so if I could use the filters for FM18 as well that would be awesome.

Here is a good FM18 tactic

All the time I have been playing Pace and Acceleration were important. I missed FM18 but I am sure it was either the same or similar.
Speed said: Yeah I think having a table with benchmarks for how the average default formations perform would be great. What you can do now is filter by author: Football Manager.

You can just go to the Patch 24.1.0 or 24.2.0 tables and click on "Filter Tactics by Formation / Author / Name" and type "FM24 Preset" in and then "Search". It will bring all of his preset tactics up as he has been consistent with his nomenclature.
NandaldiaN said: still using mdw22 ratings in GS?

Yes I am.

Can I just say, totally off topic, that this post is in the top half a dozen viewed posts of all time on FM Arena with over 130k views, and the highest of any non tactic post on the site. So clearly a subject that is important to the FM Community.

Out of interest, the top 2 by a massive margin, are both from the great @ZaZ with ZaZ Blue 4.0 in FM22 tactics with over 630k views, and ZaZ Blue 3.0 in FM21 tactics with just under 580K views. In third is Phoenix v5.0 in FM21 tactics with over 230k views.

So i used newgan manager for the first time this FM edition.
In my save with Paris FC I generated newgen faces last season by adding an extra unemployed manager and generating the RTF file with that unemployed manager. This because Paris FC scouting range was to small, and it worked fine.

The 3th season I want to add newgen faces to the newly generated regens from the game. I do everything the same as last season only using a new RTF file with the new players added in and using preserve option in newgan tool.

Now comes the issue:

With my main manager from Paris FC I see the old fm generated regen faces
with the unemplyed manager I see the newgen faces.

Anyone that can help me?

I will try, I am no expert. But if I cant fix it reasonably quickly, I think you can send something in to NewGan (see the bottom of this post).

All your managers are in the same game file aren't they?

Can I just clarify a few things with you and get some information to see if I can help. Can you post screenshots of:

. the config.xml file
. the location and files in your graphics folder
. the files in the newgan facepack you are using.

Can you tell me if you have more than one newgan facepack installed and if so can you try deleting or moving the folder the one you are not using as FM doesn't cope with trying to assign two images to one person.

Have you tried the suggestion in the opening post as FM changed the IDs for Newgens in their last update.

Support

In the event of any bugs or issues please follow this protocol:

1. Go to the following folder:
Windows: Head to %localappdata%\Programs\NewGAN-Manager\app\newganmanager\newgan.log
Mac: Head to /Applications/NewGAN-Manager.app/Contents/Resources/app_packages/newgan.log
2. Save that logfile
3. Gather your generated config.xml and the .rtf file from your Sports Interactive\Football Manager 20XX\ folder
4. Email all 3 of those files to SAGKRZealandReport@gmail.com
NandaldiaN said: thats interesting but for some people maybe its a little messy to do everything with the code, is it possible to have it in a Genie Scout rating file or something?

Firstly save your default GS Ratings file. Then all you would need to do is put 50 against the 5* attributes, 30 against the 3* attributes and 10 against the remainder. After you have done it save your new file and look at the results. Sort by highest current rating and then go back in and adjust the weighting if the rating is too high or low for your own purposes. I would then try and balance the position weightings to get them in the same ball park, but this is a personal thing.

When you have finished adjusting save the file again. You might need to reload your ratings file when GS updates for FM changes, just to make sure you are using the ratings file you want.
Kito5 said: Possible to send you my file and make the changes? If im to do it myself i need an app to open the file and make the changes

Glad we could solve it without me having to use a Mac. The inbuilt editor in Mac called TextEdit worked for those with Macs.
Can I suggest a couple of things and also ask for a couple of things as well. As I said I wont get a chance to download and test the faces pack you are using until later in the week. I use DF11 Newgan pack. I suspect there might be conflicts having 2 packs installed, can you either relocate the folder of the 2nd pack to a directory outside FM24 or at very least delete any config file in the pack you no longer use.

Also can you do a screen shot of the very start and very end of the config file you are using so I can make sure there is no code there that is a problem.

Thanks
tiagoagueda said: I have changed to the default skin and the problem persists. And here is the folder where my facepack is located.

I do have a copy of that facepack but haven't used it. Do you have any other newgen facepacks installed, because when I look at the faces files they are a different structure to the config file. For example, caucasian directory doesnt have any pictures named caucasianXXX.png, they are AUSXXX.png, CANXXX.png, ENGXXX.png.

If I get time later in the week I might try and load it and see what my config file looks like with that newgen facepack.
This is a tweak of the fabulous Death Star tactic by @Delicious. I have tried to simplify it a bit.

TI changes as follows:

Removed Pass Into Space
Added Work the Ball Into Box
Tempo dropped to Standard
Removed Counter
Trigger Press dropped to More Often

PI changed Wingers to Press Less Often.

Tried it with the standard 3 Divisions of EPL (Man CIty and Wolves), L1 (Wycombe and Exeter) and VNL (Bromley and Kidderminster).

Very impressive results. Give it a try and tell me what you think.

tiagoagueda said: I was using NewGan Manager, yes. And here is a screen shot of my Confif file.

And the folder that has your newgan facepack. It might be worth trying the default skin as well
tiagoagueda said: Hey, I really need you help as, after the update, some of my newgens faces completely disappeared. Is there any way I can get the default FM24 regens faces or get the NewGan manager faces to work? I've tried all the abovementioned steps and none of them work.

Thanks!

First question is have you used the Newgan Manager before the changes happened?

If not then sorry I don't think I can help you. If you had, please send me a copy or screen dump of your config file from the Newgan face pack
keithb said: If we look at the testing results for 24 and what we already knew you would prioritise acceleration, pace and jumping reach. Then balance, anticipation and concentration. After that as you wish but possibly agility, strength.

I am not sure I have the time to address all the questions raised on this subject. There is plenty to read on this thread.

Best Attributes for Each Position

Fundamentally, the ykykyky rating was based on positions. FM Arena is based on the average across the outfield team. In the words of Roy Slaven, make of that what you will.
letsgo9 said: Sryfor being invasive but in my game experience Jumping reach is a must for BPDs

@CBP87 asked for filters based on ykykyky. I have just tried to give him something based on the Machine Learning experiment. I also look at height and other things. But that wasn't the question.

I should also note that all their work, and indeed mine, is based on position and not role. I don't believe role matters much in the game. But position is very important. So in this instance we are talking about Central Defender.
